Is anyone doing this? I am considering doing something more with my life in the future, but options (and pay!!) seem to be really limited if you dont have a degree. I did my NNEB at college 12 years ago and I think that is considered level 3.

If anyone is doing this course could you please give me some idea of the workload, how your finding it and costs ie funding etc.

Thanks

Just finishing mine through the Open University. Mostly funded by the Local Authority. It's taken me years, hours every week and almost cost me my family, but I think it may possibly perhaps have been worth it.

Thank you for replying. How did you go about getting the funding? Are you a childminder or nursery nurse?

I am just finishing up year 2 with a view to doing top up in october.

its been 2 years of hard hard graft, late late nights (I now have permanant bags under my eyes lol), kids who have forgotten what a mummy does (well thats their take on it) but i have throughly enjoyed it and learned quite a bit not to mention proved to myself that i can go that extra mile for myself.

you NEED the support of your OH and family (and yes my kids do support me really).

I have worked as a minder throughout (as well as doing my other roles of support minder, vacancy co-ordinator, community network minder, running drop in's, attending other training and network meetings and being on the scout committee and active in helping the troop) so i have been kept busy.

I am a CM and I just applied for funding from my Local Authority. They only did it course by course, because they could not guarantee to continue supporting me. Also the amount of funding I got for each course has been different.

thank you both, that is helpful. I will have a good think and look into it further.
