Hi all,

I am feeling sad now, I had my first parent today, had a little chat, and she asked if I had any questions, I just froze and said no. i didnt know what to say. i was friendly and laughing and of course playing with her daughter.

but i feel like ive blew it for minding this child.

I've done it before {{{{hugs}}}

Now I try to list questions I'd like her to answer and get it ready for the next meeting.

Dont feel to bad, I still get jittery as I am a very shy person anyway.

Most questions you would ask a parent have probably already been covered. Maybe something to do next time is to just do a recap of the things discussed such as drop off time/collection time, fee payment arrangements, child's allergies plus likes/dislikes.

Oh I really wouldn't worry, if she knows you're new to minding then I'm sure she'll realise you were nervous. I made a right hash of my first interview and I just sent the mum an email afterwards saying that I'd forgotten a few things and sorry to have been so nervous - it did the trick and I got the client. I think tbh they won't be marking you on whether you had questions, more on what you were like with their child and with them and what your resources were like.

FrazzleRock · 19/04/2010 15:48

I'm surprised she ask you if you had any questions
When I interview prospective clients, I usually ask them if they have any questions!

I'm sure you covered everything so don't worry

Ripeberry · 19/04/2010 17:27

Maybe you froze because it seems unusual for the parent to be asking you if YOU had any questions?
All your answers would have been talked about when you chatted, she must have told you what days she wanted ect.
All your questions would be covered by your 'All about me' form for the child.
Don't worry.
