the cm must by law display their ofsted registration cert which shows their Registration Number; no cert = not registered

ring Ofsted for guidance if you have any concerns

Just look at the contract, when you visited her she must have showed you her certificate no ?

muddleduck · 01/04/2010 13:29

agree - she shoudl definitely have given you her reg number.

you can get a hint from the ofsted website. Follow the instructions for finding reports of childminders. If you put her postcode (when it asks for yours) then hers should be the first on the list. They don't have names but there should be enough info for you to figure out if it is her.

OnlyWantsOne · 01/04/2010 13:29

This is not for a CM I use, this is because some one I know is advertising as a registered childminder - they wouldnt give me their registration number.

I have phoned Ofsted, they told me to call te family information service in my area.

Crikey.

lots of CMs won't give our the reg number to anyone except people with contracts - there are good (financial) reasons for this, so it isn't necessarily a warning flag.

try the ofsted website.

Summerfruit · 01/04/2010 13:32

She cant give you her reg number by phone, what if you were someone who wants to use it the number in order to claim benefits ? I dont know I think that is the reaqson but I could be wrong !

BoysAreLikeDogs · 01/04/2010 13:32

ah right

she probably won't give you her reg number yet as you are not signed up and there have been cases where fraudulent claims to tax credits have been made by folk who have got hold of ofsted reg numbers; lots of us are wary of giving out our reg numbers willy-nilly

sorry, not much help

this page, scroll down on the left

Danthe4th · 01/04/2010 13:37

Why do you want it??

If you know where she lives go on the ofsted website and put in the postcode, all childminders closest to the postcode should come up and you can often guess who is who.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 01/04/2010 13:38

where it says search by postcode

HTH

OnlyWantsOne · 01/04/2010 13:44

Have done so, have wored out who she is - there is no report for her

OP posts:
muddleduck · 01/04/2010 13:52

so she is listed but there is no report?

perhaps she is registered but the inspection is quite recent? otherwise you wouldn't be able to find her at all.

atworknotworking · 01/04/2010 13:55

If she is newly regd, she will have a URN number but the first inspection is carried out within 6mths of registration, then the report can take about 21days to go onto the system. I'm curious to know why you want her reg number as well.

OnlyWantsOne · 01/04/2010 13:58

you dont really want to know, because if I told you, I would have to ask MN to delete the thread...

thank you for all your help. I have sorted it all now.

atworknotworking · 01/04/2010 14:46

She's naffed off now.

Sooo not fair

OnlyWantsOne · 01/04/2010 19:27

uh, hint... mmm... this person has a criminal record for ABH

Jusr found out shes childminding and advertising as ofsted registered.

Nuff said.

OP posts:
atworknotworking · 01/04/2010 19:35

Thank you OWO did you find her reg on Ofsted? If so then she will have only been given it if her Criminal Records check came back, social services, list 99 and Doctors report. So I'm presuming that if she has her CRB then they would have looked at the ABH thing and okayed it .

However if this person's CRB check is less than 3yrs old it can be submitted with the application for CMinding, but convictions should have been disclosed.

MillyMollyMoo · 01/04/2010 19:41

They do consider each application on it's merits apparently which makes you wonder why they bother.
I know teachers with drug charges, fraud and robbery, all reformed characters spent convictions and in a high school near you.
