Dh and I are both barristers and therefore self employed.I have two dds the eldest starts school in september the youngest is 1.I would like to go back parttime. We both work in the same court centre.
We used leave house at 9 and eldest when to nursery. It will be to difficult to get back for 3:15 when school closes. If nanny starts around 9 and is told day ends at 5,what would be approp pay.We live near York

Thanks in advance very tired going to bed.

Hello depending on the experience and qualifications of the nanny and whether you would consider a nanny with own child then you would be looking to pay £7-£10 an hr gross.

Don't know York rates but outside of London I feel is all much of a muchness. I'd say that 10 per hour gross would be a reasonable figure to use for budgeting purposes. A very experienced nanny may want a little more, a less experienced nanny may accept less.
It's a nice short day as far as nannying goes, no crack of dawn start of evening finish. So you may find it appeals to some people, though could put off others who are needing a particular income to pay a mortgage.

If it is of any help, here is a link to North Yorkshire nanny job adverts on NannyJob.co.uk
May help to get a feel for local rates.

Tax Calculator will help to convert Net to Gross, Gross to Net and also give you a figure fr Employers NI.

If the job is part-time rather than full-time then keep in mind the the nanny may have another job and thus as their employer you may not be able to use their personal tax allowance when doing the payroll. Very important to agree a Gross wage.

Opps that second link didn't work... try this one: Tax Calculator
