Childcare for 2 weeks in London

A friend of mine from the US will be coming into London for a couple of weeks for work, and she needs to bring along her 5-year-old daughter as well.

What's her best childcare option - babysitter/nanny/nursery/cm - for just two weeks? And roughly how much will it cost (reckon she'll need cover for 6- 7 hours/day)?

She will be staying somewhere in Zone 1 (ish), though she is not certain where yet.

Any suggestions/recommendations appreciated!

Which weeks? I would consider it as a temporary nanny position. I would ask for 8pounds/hr but this is negotiable.

If its only for two weeks then I would think it would be better to get a temp nanny probably from an agency or recommendation. I am sure there are a couple of people on here.

If its London I would say around £10 per hour would be fair as a temp would be self-employed.

When are they arriving?

She's coming in June - so not for a while yet! I think she just needs to know what to budget for and how to go about finding a reputable person. Thanks, NannyBeth, but probably too far in advance for you to plan! Reckon she'll have to get in touch with specific people nearer the time.

3 months isn't too far ahead. One temp on here is booked up to the end of the year!

I would personally go through an agency as they will definitely be able to have someone there every day whereas you have no backup with a privately sourced temp.

I do lots of temp work but I would have to live in as I am not in London. I am starting to take bookings for June, July and August.
