i am a registered childminder but have been asked to babysit by my friend while she is ona training course in the evenings, her children are 5 and 11.

my question is, am i allowed to babysit? do i have to register for it?

if im allowed what do i need? extra insurance and does it involve the same paperwork?

Childcare between 6pm and 2am is unregulated. Your insurance may or may not cover you... contact your policy provider for details of what they will cover and if they require the family to have a contract with you.

You can use the ncma babysitting checklist if you want to have valid ins if that is also with ncma, but do you really need to do that for a friend,I think not, but thats up to you and your friend.

do i legally need insurance? or could i get parents to sign a clause saying they know i am uninsurred and any accident that happen in the home are to be decided a reasonable ris and im not held responsible or something lie that?
