if tyou had a child in the morning took them so school and then picked them up from school do you only charge for the time they are ay your house or for the whole day

my friend charges for the whole day but i dont see how this is fair, she says she cant offer the place to another person so she charges?

It depends if you are on call for the whole day and will you accept them then if they are ill??
Most childminders do before school and afterschool places and then pre school during the day.
If you are on call for a playgroup then you could charge as it would take up a pre school place.
We are self employed so can charge and offer what we want, its up to the parents to agree and negotiate before the contract is signed.

I have b/a schoolers and I charge for the time that I have them, not during school hours, I also have rates for holiday club care which are charged if the school is closed for any reason, if parents wish us to have them eg: snow days, teacher training etc.

However if we take a mindee to a pre-school session and collect I charge for the full day, as I would find it hard to fill the couple of hours gap that the child was a pre-school.

If we only collect after the pre-school session I charge from the point of collection, but make it very clear that if the pre-school is closed for any reason I may not be able to cover or if the child needs collecting before the end of the pre-school session I will not.

I charge for the hours they're with me. Some parents like to even out the cost over the year, so they're not hit with a big bill for the summer holidays.

Blimey I'd never charge a full day just to do school drop off and pick up, I don't think you'd have any problem (in my area at least) filling at least half of the space because everyone here seems to want just mornings
