Parting gift for beloved nanny & Cm

Nannies, CMs, please tell me, what was the nicest gift you received from a family when it was time to part ways?

We have to give up our nanny whom we love very much as we are moving away.

Thought about a photo album of the kids plus maybe a necklace from Links or such...also thought about having the kids paint something at one of those pottery cafes but IME those tend to just become dusty trinkets cluttering the cupboard after awhile...

Budget perhaps £400.

Thank you for your creative ideas!

If I were you I would just give that £400 to her with painting from kids or cup painted by kids.

When one of my familes moved abroad they made me a clock from a cermamic cafe as well as gifts from shops etc. I love my clock and still have it on my kitchen wall!
I'm sure your nanny will appreciate anything

i agree that if you have a nice budget then a small gift, maybe something made/ trinket box /mug etc and cash would be nice

I got a lovely photo mug from one of my families, had pics of the kids on one side and one of me and the kids on the other. It was really nice and a touching reminder of my time with the family. Easily available from photobox here

A mug a child did for me when he was nearly 3, is still surviving and is in use 10 years later.

I have a ring given to me by my charges I left 20 years ago that I still wear daily!

A silver bangle with the childrens names engraved inside that I wear when not at work.

A white gold necklace that I wear when I am going out.

A gold bracelet that I still have but it needs repairing.

A troll bead bracelet with beads choosen by the children. Including beads with the childrens initials on. That I wear when I am not at work.

Diamond studs that I wear all the time!

One family brought me a very expensive camera (I love photography)

One family brought me a coat cos I never wore one (Never wore it!)

One family brought me a full set of luggage (I was leaving because I was emigrating!)

A pair of slippers and an Eeyore!

And my last family brought me a zoom lens for my DSLR.

I like have a nice piece of jewelry to remind me of the children and love my engraved bangle, but please see if you can find out her taste in jewelry if you decide to go this way. Something small to remind her of the children is always nice and something that shows that you appreciated all her hard work!

I would not like to recieve money as a leaving gift, a memento is far nicer!

Thanks for all your ideas. It is nice to hear of other well-regarded nannies and families :-)

Just to add, i recieved a large star-shaped painted bowl from one of my former charges, and i use it regularly for crisps when having parties, salad etc, every time i get it out of the cupboard i have a smile to myself and remember them! So if your children are going to paint/decorate something for her, maybe go for something she can use on a regular basis, rather than an ornament if that makes sense.
