CM Club: would any of you be interested in pooling EYFS info??

Hey gang, I'm wondering if it might be worth setting up a basic website that lets us pool our EYFS info? I really like the bromley childminding site so I'm thinking something like that. But I would only want the content to be open to Mumsnetters and only those that have contributed something to the pool. IYSWIM?

I have spent ages on paperwork and don't want others to get all the benefit without the work (and really you do need to do the work to understand everything behind the paperwork if that makes sense?) but it would be more of a chance to see the way others do things and if you can improve/change your own system?

Would anyone be up for that? I wont bother to do the site otherwise!

Bumnoise · 07/03/2010 18:42

Fab idea but have you checked out www.childmindinghelp.co.uk/forum which does the same thing, there are free downloads to all and also downloads that only long term members can access, to protect your work.

moogster1a · 07/03/2010 20:04

I'd be up for it. I've just spent weeks getting all my policies ra's etc. and have started sharing with te m's I know. No point in us all repeating the same waffle IMO.
I find childmindingforum a bit reluctant to share a lot of stuff. They always get really annoyed if I say how much I dislike the paperwork with EYFS and what a waste of time I find it!

navyeyelasH · 07/03/2010 20:16

bumnoise, yes I have looked on that site before, it's great in some respects but there are a lot of old school childminders on there and as I'm quite new to it I don't really feel I fit IYSWIM? Also it's quite big and a feels a bit faceless to me, but I am weird!

Just thought it would be nice to share with the people here who I have come to know and trust they know what they are doing!

stomp · 07/03/2010 21:24

There are a couple of yahoo support groups that share EYFS materials and know-how, i'm a member of them. They are a very professional bunch of childminders and associated early years peeps- very generous- which means that anything that has been shared on those groups must stay within the group, even the pieces that i have adapted for my own setting. However i'm always willing to help where i can.
I'm also a member of the forum which i find is more useful for general support.
Navy, i would recommend the yahoo groups, you will find them a very welcoming group of long-standing and new childminders- and very few 'old-school' which i take it you mean anti EYFS?? or the 'sit children in front of the tv' type ...not sure i've come across any of those for a long time .

navyeyelasH · 07/03/2010 22:08

stomp, by old school I did indeed mean anti eyfs and generally just been in the business a long time and a bit cynical and well, negative!

It's ok to not appreciate EYFS a lot of it is red tape, bureaucratic, drivel and we all need a moan sometimes; but at it's core I think it is a really good framework that does help most children. But when you hear, "don't bother", "it's rubbish" "I'm not doing it" etc it doesn't get me in the right mindset. I'm sure they are lovely people and I really haven't spent that much time there so I hope no-one takes this is malice. [scared]

I have never "got" yahoo groups I find it well confusing, is there a link to the forum you could share? Iw ould be very interested to have a nose.

Pinkchink I am on facebook but I'm very funny about adding people who I don't know etc for obvious reason. Not that I think you are dodgy at all, but the way facebook links everyone together is a bit insane and your friends could have access to my account at some point etc. My email is [email protected]. Maybe if you email me on that then I will have your email address?

Definitely interested, again have sent stuff to other MN CM's and would be easier if all together.

Just dont ask me to do anything, I am a real technophobe, I can surf, I can do things I know that is it!

But I can email you things Navy for you to put on

atworknotworking · 08/03/2010 09:35

I'd be interested in sharing my bits n pieces too, it would be great to get feedback as well you can feel quite isolated sometimes and i always wonder if I'm doing stuff right IYSWIM.

navyeyelasH · 08/03/2010 10:05

brill sounds like a good idea then, luckily my DP is the computer whizz and he can do it in the next couple of days. I will make sure it's well organised rather than a pile of documents uploaded to a random site. I'm excited now!
