AuPair friends

Hi, I have just embarked on my first AuPair experience with young girl joiniung our family from Holland. She is delightful and great with the children however after just 3 days she is now very homesick. We have enrolled in language school today and we are now trying to contact other AuPairs near to us so that she has someone of some age to meet up with. Is there anyway of finding out about AuPairs local to us?

There is a 'au pairs in the UK' group on facebook.
I have been known to email complete strangers having seen their advert for an au pair job on our local gumtree just to ask if their new au pair would like to meet up with ours..but then I have no shame
Or you could post your location on this thread and see if there is a mumsnet au pair nearby!

As EColi says approximately where in the world are you. I have put my APs in touch with other APs met through here, that and the dreaded fb are the two ways they have found others.

My new AP hasn't met anyone yet either. So apart from the bus driver, people in shops and the gym, no other real life conversations. She is on the phone/skype most evenings though - and I think her friend is going to visit next week.
We're in Northern Ireland and AP's seem very few and far between.

Good idea, we are in Datchet, near Windsor (Berkshire) so if anyone has or knows of AuPair's in / near this area would very much appreciate a contact.

I find college is the biggest place they meet friends. All my au pairs have made a few friends through contacts, but college is the biggest source.

Hi Lizcat, do you still have an aupair? we are also in Dtachet and trying to help our au pair to make freinds :-)
