Just finished section 3, The quality of provision in the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Now I have to suggests some improvements. I'm really really bad at this part. The problem being anything I think of improving on, I just do it right away!

What should I put? I want to extend the garden sheltered area so that is one thing bt what else?

Thanks!

I would perhaps give some fairly specific things e.g. build up a collection of protective, all-weather clothing for all year-round play in the garden. The Practice Guidance in the EYFS pack has a Planning and Resourcing column for the different learning areas which has lots of useful ideas. BTW my inspector asked if I had a list of resources (which I hadn't!) which would be a start to see if some areas need a bit more concentrating on.

woops sorry guys I forgot to say, "I have a child coming at 1pm so this is a post and run!".

Allthatglisters, RE outdoor clothing. It already became an issue so I just raided some charity shop and ebay and now we have enough for everyone and also a few bigger sizes that we don't need just yet but the children will grow into. Re the Practice Guidance, I don't understand how that can help me find ways to improve? I am having a very dopey day today though!

Boysarelikedogs - if we were in an exam you would have your arm curled around your work by now thanks so much. I'm rubbish at this sort of thing, I can answer the actual questions but I hate the "now judge yourself" part.

Already had fab ideas, but I think I also wrote about what I'd improved already and how it was a contining process... oh and I said I had a continuous improvement log (thanks to Katymac).

as said before do not and will not so the SEF, complete waste of my precious time..

I do parents feedback forms every 3 months and always get excellent(so feedback from the people who actually pay me,you know the peoples opinions who actually matter) and do weekly self assessments and record any changes..

its not compulsary for cms so why are you bothering?

Its not tailored for cms so why are you bothering?

mind you BOYS...that was bloody good.

navyeyelasH · 01/03/2010 19:12

the body you're scaring me!

I'm doing it because a)I want to get outstanding b) I want to have answers to questions ready in my head when the inspector comes and c)I might learn something.

Iv'e only been childminding for 4 months so I have a lot to prove. An outstanding grade packs a lot of punch round here with parents and it'd be good to get a waiting list going.

ontop of what BALD suggested I put a few others in and also added

"Consider the best ways to effectively gain the thoughts and views of the children and parents in order to help improve and positively promote the outcomes for children"

Such a lot of wordy bleughness
