Not done this for a long time

I did one weekend in 6 or so to accomodate a parental shift pattern

It was v nice actually !! early starts but I charged double cash of course and we did loads of stuff that you can't do when your own DCs are at school - museums/art galleries/beach trips, my own DCs were accepting of the extra child/ren

It worked because Dh was happy; if he was not 100% in favour the cash helped a LOT then I would have stopped

the the shift pattern changed and the extra cash did too

at BALD
no, I would prefer not to.

LesbianMummy1 · 26/02/2010 13:41

I did for 3 months as parents told me they needed it for shift pattern reluctantly agreed as normally is my time with my own dc's which I feel is important. Twice the parents were caught out, once my friend bumped into them shopping and then we happened to walk past their house and they were having lunch quite easily visible so now they have ruined it for everybody as I just say no

parents are an odd sort sometimes!!!

malovitt · 26/02/2010 14:45

I do odd Saturdays and Sundays here and there if asked; wouldn't do it regularly though.

Bumnoise · 26/02/2010 16:45

I have done in the past but wouldn't again, one day off a week is just not enough for me!

atworknotworking · 26/02/2010 18:00

Yep - I find it knackerin

Have a young baby atm, but prefer older ones as we can do so much more going out kind of things. But heyho musnt grumble.

I have worked every Saturday for the last 8 years from 8-6 have had a little girl who is now 7 since she was 18mts and a little boy who lived with us for 10 days at a time while his mum worked abroad so did Sundays as well now at boarding school from 8mts and is now 8

tigersmum · 26/02/2010 19:08

I do Saturdays and Sundays but not every week.

lollipopmother · 26/02/2010 22:03

I did last Saturday for 5 hours then did babysitting for another 4. I'm pretty sure I charged much too low for the CM though, I charged £5ph (my normal rate is £4). I've amended it to £5.50 but still feel that's cheap but equally don't want to put people off booking me for the odd weekend.

lollipopmother · 26/02/2010 22:05

Oh and I absolutely loved it, I felt much less under pressure (as it were) because there was just my DD and the mindee who are both the same age (17m) and I also invited my neighbour and her dd (9m) to join the activities so it was a really sociable affair. We did outside painting, flourplay in the toughspot on the kitchen floor and then they all had a role-play tea party which was the cutest thing I've ever seen!

HSMM · 26/02/2010 22:09

I do occasional Saturdays at double time, but I have never been asked to do them permanently. I might consider it.

I should have said in answer to your main question about how I get the weekend work I just advertise it on my website
