I will be paying a friend to look after my DD for 2 x 30 minutes a week - is that illegal?

? Would she need to be registered as a childminder because there is no chance on earth she is going to do that for what is doing for me...

I think it is ok if it is for less than 2 hours

MomBombadil · 25/02/2010 16:40

Can you give her money to cover food etc. and do it that way? I've no idea if she'd need to be registered in any way (tax etc.) for this - seems like overkill.

pretty sure she wouldnt need to be as less than 2 hours

RoseWater · 25/02/2010 16:44

I'm pretty sure that the rules are over 2 hours so you should be ok - but you may need to agree what would happen if there was an emergency etc.

she wouldnt need to be registered and dont worry about tax you wouldnt be paying enough

minderjinx · 26/02/2010 07:30

I think she'd still need to register as self employed and then telll HMRC she hadn't earned enough to pay tax (assuming she doesn't do other paid work of course)

nope
