ok so im a nanny for a lovely family and due to a accident i will of been off for 5 and a half months by the time i go back. Very long i no.
The family currently have a temp nanny in but im worried that it will be like starting from the begining with the children when i go back.
Plus i dont know how the parents will be as they will have got use to their new nanny.
Am i just being silly?
I would be greatful for your comments.

How long were you their nanny for before the accident? If you were there for years then no need to worry!

Speaking as a nanny who temped you do always know that you're a temp and you try and maintain the status quo as much as possible. Have you kept in touch with the children at all? Can you ease yourself back into work gently and visit them lots?

Think fran makes good points about going back to work re kids/other nanny. As a parent and as slemkne who has also had to return to work after time ofd (and without knowing any background)is how you will
handle transition back into work? Nannying is not something you can necessarily ease back into so to speak and if you have been unwell and off for a time (even for best of reasons) it can take time
to get back into it. If I was your employer I would want to discuss this so could manage things so there was cover kids weren't confused and most of all return to work was done so you felt comfortable and that you were eased back in a way that didn't overwhelm you when you had been off so recently.

Sorry weird spelling due to iPhone

How old the children are?

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/02/2010 18:11

i have been a long term temp, and did several long 3+mth positions due to ml/nanny being ill etc

you are not being silly, you have looked after these children and you are attached to them (almost as hard as a mum leaving her dc with a nanny)

as frakk said you try to keep to the routine, and i mentioned that xxx/nanny was coming back, we saw her a few times for a cuppa etc

sure all will be fine x

thanks for the messages.
I havent been too see them as often as i would like as i have a broken leg and cant really walk and i need to get on tube etc to get there and as im on sick pay i have no money to get a taxi which is £15 each way.
The children are 4yrs and nearly 2! and i have been there for a year and a half. I know the 4yr old will remember me, parents say im all she ever talks about but its the little one im worried about as we had a close bond.
I know it will be fine going back even if theres afew hiccups but i just cant stop thinking about it.
But thank u all
