I have been asked about school collections but am not sure what to charge? I need to charge enough to make it worth the hassle but not so much that they think I am ripping them off.

Any suggestions my usual hourly rate is £3.50

Would be for 4 days a week for an hour or so 3 children?

I'm afraid I would charge for a minimum of two hours - it simply wouldn't be worth it for less. By the time I took into account fuel, wear and tear on the car, my time to fit the extra car seats and get there, added to which most school children come out of school ravenous and eat solidly for the first hour at my house it might cost me to take them! ...and don't forget you will pay tax and NI on that three pounds fifty, so it's only worth about two pounds forty.

Our local after school club charges £4.80 for mornings and £10.80 for afternoons - they only get a drink and toast/biscuits after school (although more at breakfast club)
I charge a minimum of 3 hours which wroks out to a similiar amount. Children get a full cooked 2 course dinner and drinks/snacks, homework space, games etc.

Most parents only use me for after school but know they can have an hour in the morning too if they want.
