Do you have an Australian au pair?

Our lovely Australian au pair would like to link up with other Australian au pairs in the UK.

Appreciate you are probably no where near us (East Anglia) but she wants to explore various towns at weekends and they could meet up there and explore together.

She has made contact with other local au pairs but they tend to be a bit too weird European for her.

CAT me or invite me to CAT you if your au apir s interested.

I am an Australian nanny living in London. If she's ever down this way I would be pleased to meet up with her....

catepilarr · 01/02/2010 15:30

oh no, too europian, i wonder what that means...

millarkie · 01/02/2010 17:02

Ooh is my ap one of the too weird ones?

DadInsteadofMum · 01/02/2010 18:16

Hi Mill - Don't know if she has made contact with yours - what you got at the mo? She has mostly met up with french and they tend to be a bit cliquey.

We have the same lovely German girl since June. She won't speak German, insists on English so the other au pairs think she's a little strange. My mum moves in as 'housekeeper' March/ April though, so not long before lovely ap moves on

Hi

I'm an Australian nanny currently living in Leeds but moving to London (at least during the week, possibly also on weekends, but maybe returning to Leeds on weekends til April) and would be happy to meet/talk with your AP! How old is she?

How old is she? I am an Australian Nanny living in London (and I know some younger Aussie and Kiwi Nannies too).

DadInsteadofMum · 02/02/2010 12:12

She is 21 and a fast train ride is less than an hour to London (slightly longer to Leeds).

Well I am 30 but my nanny friends are all younger then me but if she wants to go for a night out on a weekend then CAT me and I can give you my details.

I was told by our Aussie/Kiwi nannies/au pairs that Walkabout is a good place to meet young antipodeans, particularly the original Shepherds Bush one.

The Backpacker in Kings Cross is probably a bit hard core for a first time in London. Unless she is from Darwin ;)

LouIsOnAHighwayToHell · 03/02/2010 08:54

The walkie is where bad things happen ! She should look on the TNT website and find a netball (if she is into that) team or something.

SnailWhaleTail · 03/02/2010 18:21

Hi, Lou, what's the TNT website? My AP is an Aussie and is desperate for a sports team to join.

We're not in London though.

Thanks.

LouIsOnAHighwayToHell · 04/02/2010 10:49

TNT is a magazine that comes out free on Mondays. It is aimed at antipodeans so has lots of info in it regarding life in the UK. There is an online version too. If you do a search for TNT magazine it shoudl come up.
There is also a website which is called www.meetup.com which has heaps and heaps of social groups etc you can join. I am a member of heaps of groups and found it great when I moved over.

Where in EA are you based? I'm not an AP but was a MH in gloucs last year, now I've moved back home and am bored out of my mind!

ACS08 · 05/02/2010 14:06

Hi - we have a lovely Australian mother's help who arrived 2 weeks ago and is with us until December. Only 18 and struggling to find kindred spirits for her. The local playgroups/parks etc are full of other mums or older nannies.

Is this of interest or can anyone else help? We are in North West London and she is helping me with my v active 22 month little boy while I wait for no.2 to arrive at the end of march.

Apologies for hijack .
