Hello,
Can anyone tell me what are the reasonable pay rates and hours/babysitting nights for an aupair in London.

Thanks

Hi......we did £65 per week pocket money plus £10 mobile top-up per month, £15 oyster per month, and paid for language classes. This was for 20-25 hours per week (v little cleaning as we were lucky enough to keep on our cleaner) to help out with 1 child, plus up to 2 nights babysitting per week. We live in Zone 1 so felt this was reasonable enough for a double room en-suite with all the trimmings.....!
I know some who pay more for more hours, and some who pay less with less "perks".

This seems to be what is 'recommended' but I've been looking in gum tree and find that some are advertising more. You never quite know what is best do you?

To be honest it's a personal thing - and I think much of it is dependent on the hours/level of responsibility. Like I said I know there are some who pay more but then don't add on the language courses (about £150-£200 per term) and transport etc.....but once you do the maths, it works out the same (ish) to be honest. Also it will depend on where your AP is from......ours have been Euro-zone so the exchange rate is favourable too...

We pay £80 for 35 hours. Zone 4 london and had over 70 applicants. We have 3 children, 25 hours taking and collecting from school and 10 hours of cleaning... but we do offer a nice bedroom :-) and wifi broadband, sky TV etc

Hi. We live in SW London and we pay £80 for 35 hours, we provide a laptop, mob phone, broadband, sky tv, dvd and nice double bedroom. We don't pay for language school or any other extras but our AP does have the chance to do extra work for 2 other families for an extra 6 hours a week which pays an additional £42 PW.
