Don;t think so. They no longer put teh names of the inspectors on reports.

It's a shame really because I think it would allow them to see if certain people were "marking on the hard side" or "were very lax"

If you do find out that you can, let me know!

BoysAreLikeDogs · 05/01/2010 19:14

each ofsted report on their website has the name of the inspector on it but you cannot search by name

you can narrow the search by region, and by year, and the most recent inspections are listed first

have a dig on the ofsted site, you might need a few hours mind

navyeyelasH · 05/01/2010 19:14

Feel a bit sneaky now! Just went on the inspection reports section of Ofsted and the names are on there, so just clicking through them to find ones she has done!

for example, the first CM report listed on ofsted tonight

BoysAreLikeDogs · 05/01/2010 19:16

oooh

navyeyelasH · 05/01/2010 19:21

found 2 so far both satisfactory, she seems very thorough!

"Access to the front door is gained mounting one step and to the back garden down one step" Suppose it could be for access reasons RE wheelchairs etc?

OP posts:
BoysAreLikeDogs · 05/01/2010 19:24

no that is not a critiscism, she is making an observation about the access to the premises

I have been reading loads recently in prep for my own insp later this month, can you tell??

also if you have time, look for recent Oustanding reports to give you info on what they are looking for

navyeyelasH · 05/01/2010 19:26

boysarelike dogs I was really hoping to find some outstanding ones but they don't make it easy! Is it just a case of clicking every link and checking?

I'm scaring myself reading this thinking the worst - must stay positive!

plod through, click and read

sorry I can't give you a short cut !

When is your inspection? You've probably said already ?

navyeyelasH · 05/01/2010 19:35

Well they rang me today to arrange a date, it went to answer phone and when I called back she had left. But I'm thinking it'll be next Wed. I've only been working since October so it's my first and I'm a bit worried about some aspects.

I'm not to bad at paperwork and explaining why we do things the way we do, it's just if she asks me what area relates to I will have to go "erm let me look in the EYFS book" as I don't know them all of by heart yet.

Also not done a SEF as don't have a login yet!

Trawled the whole of 2009 for my inspection she has only done 4 inspections 3 satisfactory and 1 good.

My DP is a computer whizz and wrote a programme to search the reports. I have a list of recommendations that were made on the last 100 reports.

It feels like I'm cheating?! I really hope I get outstanding but think I may have to alter my expectations.

What do you think she meant by, "system for ensuring all areas are evenly supported over time"

Is this to make sure children are achieving in all areas? Maybe I should do an overview sheet for each child?

Google is your friend

You can adapt this Google Search. It may produce some false positives but with luck will give you some inspection reports they have done previously.

HSMM · 05/01/2010 22:06

I knew my inspectors name and I called Ofsted to confirm that she was a 'real' inspector (coz she could have been anyone). She was quite impressed that I had done that, but someone else said her inspector acted as if she'd been accused of lieing! Good idea to do what you have done, because you will have probably picked up on her pet subjects. Wish I had done that .

navyeyelasH · 05/01/2010 22:39

nannynick forgot about that way to search on google ta for the reminder - she has only done 4 inspections since 2008, any idea why?

In her career she has given one outstanding in 2006.

HSMM I'm already scared of my inspector and don't want to rile her; think I will just ask for ID!

looneytune · 05/01/2010 22:42

HSMM - yeah, that happened to me when I called to check, she was so not impressed!!! But then again, you know the full story about her so I'm not surprised Most inspectors I'm sure WOULD be impressed.

Anyway, good luck navy!!

nannynick · 05/01/2010 22:58

Could be any number of reasons... such as maybe involved in investigations/enforcement side of things more, maybe they are a team manager so supervising other inspectors as well as doing a few inspections themselves. Very hard to know really, especially as a search may not be bringing up all the inspections they were involved with.

Good luck with the inspection Navy.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 05/01/2010 23:05

Oh and you are not cheating, you are gathering information, yes?

I don't consider it cheating - and the info is there for public consumption

I have read heaps recently and taken points on board

eg

non-specific play (playing with strips of torn paper in this case ) - an inspection found no risk assessment for this and pulled up the CM on it; I have done a RA on necklace beading after reading that as the beads are not specifically for children although suitable with RA and appropriate supervision IYSWIM

HTH and good luck NEL

(just adding a little swoon for my hero Nick)

navyeyelasH · 05/01/2010 23:33

thanks for the good luck fingers crossed and I'll let you all know how it goes!

Quite right BoysAreLikeDogs... the more research you can do the better, as reading the inspection reports will show you what sort of things are picked out when inspection other childminders. Can sometimes also give you ideas on ways to do things, as the report may highlight something that was done very well, as well as things that need improving.
