Have lots of glass jars, and a willing 2 year old

I am a nanny and on present duty this year and have so far made hand/foot decorations for the tree plus a personalised bauble for the parents/grandparents but we also have some other people ie friends, nursery workers and people we want to thank to "buy/make" for.

Any suggestions?

You can make lovely candle holders by soaking off the labels and wrapping outsides in bits of different colored tissue paper and glue, fabric and glue or even burlap and glue. Just make sure that only votive candles are used and that the covering doesn't overlap the interior much farther than the mouth of the jar. Another thing that I've seen done are snow globes.

how do you make snow globes??

I made a snow globe with water, stars, big glitter, s (fine glitter just clumps together and looks rubbish)and glycerine... you have to experiment with how much glycerine you need to 'catch' and swirl the glitter around the jar, we also got some waterproof 'serious glue' (from WHSMITHS or a hardware store I guess?) and stuck a little toy in the lid, it looked awesome.

... I want a make another one this year, but find a way to put a photo in it for my charges parents, but er, he's 16 weeks old so they may guess he didn't have much of a hand in it

oh, and and very cooled boiled water is best, regular tap water goes cloudy I have found... and leave some space at the top of the jar too!
