Nanny agencies in SE London...?

SE13Mummy · 07/12/2009 13:33

A friend and I are looking for a nanny (Mon-Wed) to work in a nannyshare and are beginning to get quite depressed about it; we keep finding lovely nannies who're snapped up by people who live much closer to the nannies' homes

We've got an advert in Simply Childcare, on various Netmums boards, nannyshare and nannyjob but are thinking that using an agency may be what we need to do now. Problem with that is that we do not have the money to spend a month's salary on recruiting someone. We're in SE London (Lewisham area) and have come across the Little Masters and Misses agency which are within our budget. Does anyone have any experience of this agency that they'd be prepared to share?

Please?

Hi. I run Busy Bee Nannies. My email is [email protected] if you would like my help in finding a nanny please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Thanks Kim, I've had a look at the website but can't find any information about fees. It seems as though agencies who are out of my price range don't publish their prices so I tend not to contact those as I know I'll be disappointed

If you email me I will send you our fees.

we've used Tinies with success for non-standard (ie not 5 full days) so might be worth asking them. Can't remember what the fees were but I'm sure they would tell you if you phoned.

have you tried www.kidsmatter.uk.com they are a nationwide nanny agency.

SE13Mummy · 08/12/2009 19:34

The other Mum was going to call Tinies today after the lady at Little M&M's played stupid on the 'phone.

I've had a look at Kidsmatter but it doesn't seem to have much in the way of SE London posts. Thanks though.

I dont know anything about the fees but my friend who is a nanny in SE London really rates Tinies, she has found a few jobs through them and thought they were more helpful than the agency attached to her college.

Have you tried contacting nannies on simply childcare? I am a nanny looking for work and when i do a search for jobs the same old things come up, but I have had emails from parents about fab sounding positions that I hadnt noticed advertised. This way you get to pick and choose who you contact too!

best of luck!

SE13Mummy · 08/12/2009 21:48

It's good to hear that about Tinies.

I've taken up a stalking approach to contacting nannies on Simply Childcare... I tried e-mailing a brief summary of thejb and got next to nothing in the way of replies. My new tactic is to send them a text during the evening saying whereabouts my advert can be found and that I'll try calling them the next day to see if they're interested. It's been more successful as nannies who've secured jobs tend to text back and say so, others reply to say it's not their thing/it's too far away but occasionally we get lucky and find someone who it appeals to. Unfortunately they've then been snapped up before we could interview them but at least it's a start!

Ah, I wonder if you may have texted me! I have had one text in response to my ad, and it was a job around your way, so you never know! tries to think back

SE13Mummy · 09/12/2009 18:52

SuperDuperJezebel... I may well have done if your advert was in the SE London section. Our advert was searching for a Mary Poppins near Lewisham hospital. It's a lovely job. Honestly!

Yes, you definitely did!

It sounds like a lovely job but im looking for full time!

SuperDuperJezebel · 09/12/2009 19:27

Also, Lewisham is a nightmare commute for me. too picky for her own good

SE13Mummy · 09/12/2009 19:51

I don't suppose commuting to Ladywell or Hither Green would improve the situation....?

Do you know if you texted me back? I have a list of 31 nannies I've contacted and try to make sure I cross each one off as they decline Am currently waiting to hear from an M and a P!

Afraid not - Dulwich is about the furtherest South-East im able to go.

I definitely texted you back, my first initial is R if that helps?!

SE13Mummy · 09/12/2009 20:26

Thank you! The initial does help in the crossing-off sense but sadly not in the finding-a-nanny sense...

Sorry about that! I wish you the best of luck anyhow, i do understand how it feels to search without success!
