Hi there

we are currently recruiting a nanny for our nanny share and are very confused!

does anyone know if a nanny has a NVQ3 in childcare does that mean they are exempt from having to do the 'core skills' course in order to get registered? I've rang Ofsted and its not clear

also, when exactly is it going to be compulsory for all nannies to be ofsted registered?

thanks very much!

Yes, in fact an NVQ2 in a relevent subject is enough. More details are on p.55/56 of the guidance downloadable from this page on the Ofsted site.

Personally I think it is unlikely that there will ever be a compulsory requirement: it would be impossible to enforce.

is there a date for registration to become compulsory if it did happen??

There are no plans of which I am aware for registration to be compulsory, for Ofsted Reg, or for ISA where it involves an individual working in a private home being recruited directly by the parents.
