I hate question like this as my natural response is, "they just will be". I always fail to mention the little things which I assume someone with an ounce of common sense would be nothings. If that makes sense?

The variation is for 2 under ones, when working with another childminder. Both will be 9 months old and we will only have both for 2 days a week 8am-6pm.

"How will the individual needs of each child be met" by the simple fact that I am amazing will that do?

If your plan (keep it simple) includes school runs, then you need to explain that you have enough hands/pushchairs/carseats/reins/or whatever to keep the children safe. Do you have space for them all to sleep and eat? Do you have enough toys for them all to play at once (ie dolls). Say you will make sure they all have some 1:1 time. I don't think I said much more for mine.

No school run, loads of toys, car seats, highchairs, cots, pushchairs. I would take 1 baby and the other childminder would take the other 1 baby so there is a key person for each.

There is a section on the form for equipment though, so have put most of that there. Our routine is out, lunch, sleep, something at home in PM.

Argh I don't know it just seems like a weird question and I'm not answering it correctly. If I didn't have all the extra things a second baby needs (or be willing to get them sharpish) then I wouldn't be applying for a variation. I'm probably over thinking?

I used to be a nanny and have triplet and twin sole charge experience from 5 months old so 2 babies between 2 of us for 2 days a week seems like nothing to me!

Hi navy,

Thanks for your interest in Retract-A-Gate. I'm sorry but we do not ship
direct to the UK. If you have a contact in North America that may be an
option for you.

Thanks,
Marc

oh bugger

You are over thinking. The question is aimed at people who only have enough equipment for one child and still apply for a variation for two! (Yes, I'm sure it happens)

Ok thanks for the hand holding HSMM I've done it now and going to send it off today; fingers crossed!

I have always applied for different variations over the last 6 years, so was quite taken aback when they sent me a form to fill in. (I used to send a letter detailing everything and someone would call me back to confirm my plans) I too considered writing an essay, but like HSMM said it was just a matter of detailing the day, equipment required, I also put down that 3 of the children are fully toilet trained (removed the problem of changing several bums at once), I had enough car space and had lots of age appropriate toys. It took longer than normal but came back OK.

Brill thanks for the Rosie.

Do they come out and see the house and EYFS stuff etc? I have only be CMing since Oct 5th this year so not had a proper inspection yet.

They didn't come and see me when they granted my variation, but they may come and see you as you've not been minding very long.

I used the online form and got a call from them about 6 weeks later asking me basically the same questions I'd answered already onthe form.

navyeyelasH · 01/12/2009 18:09

Hmm interesting hennipenni - an online form?? I was emailed a for and I have to email it back - is that the same as what you did??

I don't mind if they come out but if they do I would rather they did a proper inspection so I can get it done.
