sends very unmumsnetlike hugs

Another nanny, working on the 3rd time lucky principle?

foxinsocks · 14/09/2009 20:52

oh thanks frakkin

of course, I feel terribly sorry for new nanny and I know she feels awful (I wish she didn't really and would just go and put her feet up and rest) but I really feel like weeping! It's one of my most busy times of year too!

I am going to ask her to ask doc to see how much time she needs off (I suspect a couple of weeks) and will have to try and find an emergency nanny for next week.

Mumps is fairly horrid in adults. Makes me glad I had it as a child although it was awful enough at the time.

Maybe someone on here could help you? I would offer but it's highly unlikely I'm anywhere near you and I'm meeting exciting people like florists and cake decorators in the middle of the day!

Commiserations Foxinsocks hope you can get sorted again sharpish.

foxinsocks · 14/09/2009 20:57

lol frakkin. Sounds good!

We had a lovely, wonderful nanny who we found on mumsnet who my children still talk about fondly. I don't think she posts on here any more but if she reads this we all think about you and wonder how you are!

Yes, she sounds poorly and she says he face is really puffy and swollen poor girl! Not a nice thing to get.

thanks matnan

I shouldn't post on here for sympathy but I had that Monday GAH feeling today when one thing after another went wrong

Oh don't be silly! You're entitled to a bit of sympathy - that's a run of bad luck by anyone's standards.

MatNanPlus · 14/09/2009 21:13

Why not sympathy you deserve some as that is rotten luck for both you and nanny.

CMOTdibbler · 14/09/2009 21:15

When DH had mumps a couple of years ago he was told to be in isolation for 10 days. It was a right PITA as I was away on business for some of that time, and of course, he couldn't take DS to nursery

You deserve a glass of wine and some posh chocolates

foxinsocks · 14/09/2009 21:15

thanks, I appreciate it believe it or not x

Wow and it's only Monday

I'm a nanny happy to do short term work in the London area if that's any use?

eastmidlandsnightnanny · 16/09/2009 17:07

oh sounds like a nightmare for you, hope nanny is feeling better soon.

can you get a temp nanny in sure there are a few who come on here

or maybe ask local nursery if they have a temp space.

do you have any annual leave you can use, or can you work flexi time to fit in with OH at all.

foxinsocks · 16/09/2009 22:35

thanks everyone

I will call poorly mumps nanny tomorrow to see how she is doing. If she is not up to next week, then I will get a temp nanny for a week. This week we have muddled together with the help of friends and I am leaving work early tomorrow and then working from home on Friday. My boss has been incredibly good and told me not to even think twice about leaving early to sort everything out.

Everything has been put in perspective as our lovely ex nanny on maternity leave has had some quite serious complications (as yet unknown what the impact is on the baby though the specialists think there must be something but can't quite find what's wrong) and it looks like will have to give birth asap . We are all devastated as it's her first child and now are keeping everything crossed that both her and the baby are ok!
