No matter how many times I try to make this, can't get it right. Always end up looking stupid in front of mindees . Have promised to try again tomorrow - how much cornflour and how much water do you use

Gosh, not sure! I think I used to just add water slowly, until I got the desired thickness! Sorry, not much help really!

leonifay · 29/04/2009 21:01

oh hang on i think i have a recipe

leonifay · 29/04/2009 21:03

no sorry, it just says cornflour and water, the play doh however has more details!
sorry

misdee · 29/04/2009 21:06

put the cornflower in first, then slowly add water until you get the desired consitancy.

add food colouring to thewater if you want.

Shoshe · 29/04/2009 21:18

green food colouring, it looks like snot then, although mixing fairy soap flakes with a tiny amount of warm water and green colouring and mixing with a electric mixer (takes forever by hand) looks even more like snot

Put at least a cupful of cornflour in a bowl and then add water spoonful by spooful, stirring after each addition.
Its like icing sugar, you needa lot less than you think. When you can leave tracks with a spoon that then sort of merge afterwards like wet sand stop!

PixiNanny · 29/04/2009 23:05

Water slowly added as the others have said! I made this with my charges a while back, video online somewhere too hehe

And we made blue, but I let 8yo pour the food colouring and so much went in that our hands were stained for a good few days afterwards, I still had blue around my nails for about 5 days? It just would not come off!

The famous 5 website has a demo of a lady making it. I'm fascinated by the thought that you can hit something with a spoon hard and it's solid but lay the same spoon on top and it sinks. Weird.

Should make for a good 'observation' . I was fascinated myself first time I saw it -I played with it more than kids at toddler group . Must Google it to see if anyone knows why it does that............
