A question for 'Outstanding' childminders

I am currently ploughing through my SEF and wondered how you rated yourself against all the criteria. Did you rate yourself as outstanding? and at the end state that all the statutory requirements were fully in place? And if you rated yourself as 'good' did the inspector upgrade you?
I'm finding this bit of the SEF very difficult it's one thing to reflect on your practice but very hard to give yourself a score!!

I gave myself 3 outstandings

OFSTED gave me them all

The SEF is impossible to fill out in one sitting imo

You get bored of it & lose track of what you said & it's very silly (IMO)

I gave myself goods and although I was not outstanding overall, the inspector gave me 6 outstandings and the rest were goods so yes, they upgraded me. I think I may have put outstanding for working with parents as I was very confident that I was, just didn't feel able to put that for the other sections (I'm not very good as being positive about myself)

Just a question about the SEF. How many words did it come to? Is it a few hundred or at least a thousand?
Or is it a lot of "see previous answer?"
Just need to know so i can prepare myself

Mine is nearly 7000 words but I don't know how many words a blank one is

OMG! , but do you have to repeat yourself, as lots of people have said that and it drives you nuts?

I'll send you mine if you want, as I say I don't know how long the blank form is (I'm not in work mode atm & I don't have that memory stick in my room)

Yep - btw guys OFSTED asked if I was selling my stuff, I said no I give it away.......& she looked at me all sideways

Katy Mac's sef is fab . Wish she lived closer so could give her a great big hug - totally inspired me to fill mine in. If you are outstanding then blow your own trumpet - in our profession no1 else does it for us .

My finished typed up sef was 12 pages long - and that was with about 6 sections filled in with 'I believe I have answered this in....'. Also, if you don't think you could do anything different/better then say so - my inspector was impressed that I was confident enough to do that . Shame I was let down by bad advice.............. Sorry - that's the other thread .

Allow yourself several bottlesofwine evenings to fill it in. Good luck

I gave myself a handful of outstandings too and a couple of goods. My inspector did comment that my SEF was well written but she said nothing about the gradings.

I got outstanding in every category but I definately didn't do this in my SEF

Thanks everyone for your kind replies!! I have kind of done as much as I can stand to do for the time being (9 pages)I have printed it off and will ammend it bit by bit over several weeks probably. I am ashamed to say I started it in February I also would love to have a copy of yours Katy as I definately need to be inspired!! Off for that vino now

I got outstanding in every category by OFSTED, and my SEF was a mix of Outstandings and Goods. Mine also took me ages, don't worry!!!
