My first assessment, called a Gateway Review is in less than 50 days' time. My first thought was to defer, but DH says that all it will mean is that I am putting off the inevitable and it will drag on over many many more weekends. I think I CAN do it, but it is going to be a hard slog.

I have started typing up Task one - have 5 do to totalling about 8,000 words (I cannot BEAR assignments with word counts!!!!). The Gateway Review thingy consists of observed discussion groups with fellow EYP students, role play with actor and a few other anxiety inducing tasks.

I would LOVE some help to push me through! Something along the lines of: WACHOO DOIN'ON MN! DO YA WORK, YA LAZY GIT!

and my ofsted inspection could be in june......

Hi no4, my freinds who are doing the EYP i was on have all now done their gateway and have all said it really wasn't that bad. my cm frined was more worried about it than others as it does all seem geared to nurseries, but she said they tailored it to situations that she could realistically come across and could therefore answer and deal with with confidence. her review back indicated areas she knew she was weak on. So all in all it was OK.

you need to have alot of faith in yourself! YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I believe in you (and will be so proud if you complete this, ooh no not if when!) go get em girly!

Thanks, Eleanorsmum! I really do want to finish it. Hearing how others have done is a big help, too. I have heard that it has been altered slightly to make allowances for CMs so that is on my to do list - talk to tutor about changes for CMs.

Escape to the library and don't come back (and don't tell him which library you went to) (you could be in the internet cafe in Starbucks for all he knows )

LoveMyGirls · 01/04/2009 07:57

Good Luck number 4,what did you have to do in order to do the EYP (as in other qualifications) I'm considering doing it in a few years time.

Numberfour · 01/04/2009 18:33

Good idea, HSMM! i have arranged an interview for 10am Sat and when I told DH he said, "But aren't you busy?" That was music to my ears because I had told him I had to go to the library (DH is just lovely and great but I must say that at times he resents the work I have to do and my time spent studying)

Lovemygirls, I am on the 6 month short pathway because I already have a (unrelated) degree. You must have a degree to be EYP. However, there are at the moment 4 ways of getting it:

  1. You have no degree and v little or no experience: 15 months which includes degree in Early Years
  2. You have the experience and no degree = think it is 12 months.
  3. You have an unrelated degree and limited experience = 6 months
  4. You have the right type of degree and loads of experience - 3 months

Have a look at the CWDC website..... hang on, will try to do a link : MY FIRST

is this right?
