Au Pairs in Nottingham

My German Au Pair is looking for a German au pair friend in the area; Nottingham. Whilst I have encouraged her to find an English friend to help her learn English faster, I can understand that it is more relaxing for her to be mixing with someone of her own nationality in her free time.

Does anyone know of a lovely German au pair, a way of meeting young German people or any other brilliant ideas?? I am keen to help her as if she is a happy girl we are a happy family!

Thank you

Hello Rebecca

Thank you for your quick reply. A lovely French au pair is a great idea too!

I've mentioned her to my au pair and she seemed quite happy with the idea. We only live just down the A52 as well!

How do we get in touch with each other privately..I'm not sure what PM means I'm afraid .

Hi there
Sorry I meant private message. But it seems we can't do that on this site. My au-pair is 23 and very nice. You can email me on [email protected]

ARE YOU A FAMILY WITH AN AU-PAIR IN NOTTINGHAM? IF YES, WOULD YOU CONSIDER TAKING PART IN MY STUDY?

Dear family and au-pair,
My name is Lenka Pelechova and I am currently studying towards a Master in
Research Methods at the University of Nottingham. For my final dissertation
project, I have to compile a small pilot study in my research area of
transnational family. I am looking for one family who has a living-in au-pair
and would be willing to participate in an ethnographical study. The main aim
is to see the whole family and the au-pair interacting in daily activities and
analyse the cultural and social differences and how are they accommodated.
The study involves a participant observation of 4-8 hours and taking of short
statements (from adults only). It is completely confidential and anonymous. I
have the permission from my department to run this study and have obtained
the necessary ethical approval (ethical approval copies and consent forms will
be given to participants prior to the study). The specific details of the project,
such as the arrangement of specific times will be all negotiated with the family
and the au pair.
I originally come from the Czech Republic, am 27 years old and I have worked
as an au-pair myself eight years ago in Bristol. Since I decided to come and
stay in the UK, I have become personally very interested in intercultural
studies and multiculturalism.
I would greatly appreciate if you could consider taking part in my study and
am more than happy to answer any questions you might have.
Thank you very much in advance,

Lenka

Hi there
We live in Nottingham, Radcliffe on Trent and have a new au pair called Sophie from Austrailia. She moved her 5 days ago and is looking to meet other au pairs in the Nottingham area. Can anyone help please.

Many thanks
Maxine (host mother).

I teach English to foreign speakers and have noticed that there's no way for au-pairs to meet each other! So I'm starting a meetup for au-pairs in a bar/cafe in central Nottingham... initially to meet up a couple of times per month in a relaxing atmosphere, get to know other au-pairs, and share experiences.... please pass it on! do you still have an au pair looking to make friends? my new au-pair is feeling very homesick and is keen to meet other local au pairs.

grandmainmypocket · 28/08/2014 00:48

Has she looked for Facebook groups for au pairs in Nottingham? There might be one set-up.

Pammy12345 · 09/10/2014 19:21

Hi, just noticed recent comments about au-pairs hoping to meet up.

I'm now organising our first meeting in the city centre; I can be contacted on [email protected] or 07768314941.
