Now don't tell me off anyone but I am still with DP, we decided to give it a go as I couldn't bear to go and he couldn't stand it either. I did eventually read your replies from last time I came online, and want to thank everyone who left me supportive messages.

I am applying for nursery and children's centres jobs, while working 2-6pm childminding for 2 under 5s. I can't afford not to work full time, but for several reasons can no longer cm full time so am looking to wrap things up.

As you will probably remember I got a bad ofsted as my first aid was out of date, well it still is, and because I thought I was leaving I have let my paperwork slide too .

I want to get back on track but need some help. Those who have had good recent inspections, do you do daily diaries or if not what do you do? What did the inspector like/advise/recommend? Useful comments I mean not loopy ones like mine gave me.

I also want to link my policicies and procedures to the EYFS but don't know where to start. I am feeling quite overwhelmed. If I don't have a new job when Ofsted come calling then I want a good grading to end things on a nice note.

Can anyone help? [hopeful}

Hi sammy, I'm afraid I can't help as I haven't had a recent ofsted and my dd3 education is suffering at the moment because EYFS seems to have taken over my life and she sort of got over looked . I have now decided to cut right back on EYFS paperwork to concentrate on her and what will be will be. Just bumping this for you really.

SammyK · 26/03/2009 13:36

I have had similar things with my DS hennipenni, it's hard to get a balance isn't it.

If I can get my policies sorted and organised (have them all from the lovely shoshe but want to link them to EYFS), then set up what I need to do each day I should be ok.

Hope you and your DD enjoy some time together

HELLO SAMMY I'm not going to blame you for staying with dp as I don't know him, only know what you've said on here. I'm the same, shouldn't really be with dh BUT....!!!

ANYWAY......had my inspection recently and got an Overall Good with 6 o/s areas so if I can help then let me know. It's better for me to help in the evening so send me an email if you want (if you can't remember it's info at helenslittleangels dot co dot uk)

Take care x

Cheers Sammy - I'd love to have got an outstanding of course but never expected that and tbh, I just didn't like the word Satisfactory so I'm more than pleased, especially as I have found it very hard since ds2 was born!! Anyway, it's done and dusted and I'd love to help you hun. Look forward to your email xx

I was struggling with p & p too then found a website www.eyfs-in-practice.com - best webby I've ever visited!! Have a look and see what you think. I bought the full package and it has been invaluable in writing policies - you can't just copy theirs, you have to adapt it to your own practice but my cm coordinator was so impressed she's contacted the company herself, with a view to arranging workshops for cms in this area!! You also have online and telephone support - the lady who runs the company is brilliant, full of knowledge and ideas and I felt motivated for the first time in months after speaking to her.

I have my inspection next week , will let you know what inspector thinks of it.

SammyK · 28/03/2009 10:44

Hi underpaid, those packs do look great but money is very tight for me at the moment so I am trying to be frugal.

Good luck with your inspection I'm sure you will do great.

LT I have emailed you.

If anyone else has any advice or tips I would appreciate them!

Hi SammyK,

which policies do you need? I just finished mine so I may be able to help you out.

SammyK · 29/03/2009 10:09

Hi katsim, I have a book of policies, but want to somehow link them to the EYFS sections, did you do this at all? As I said I have the policies, but just want to tweak and update them very slightly, and maybe put the in sections.

SammyK,

to be a honest I did my CACHE diploma in 2007 but I still have not work as a childminder (just starting in 2 weeks time) so I dont have experience as other girls here but I got a lots of support from my local authority.
So make sure you have following policies and paper work:

  • LOST CHILD POLICY
  • UNCOLLECTED CHILD POLICY
  • SAFEGUARDING CHILDREN POLICY
  • EXCLUSION POLICY
  • SMOKING POLICY
  • PERMISSION TO SEEK MEDICAL TREATMENT
  • ADMINISTERING MEDICATION POLICY
  • TRAVEL AGREEMENT FORM
  • SMOKING POLICY
  • OUTDOOR PLAY EQUIPMENT PERMISSION
  • TRANSPORTING IN A VEHICHLE PERMISSION
  • SUN PROTECTION CREAM APPLICATION PERMISSION
  • OBSERVATION PERMISSION
  • PERMISSION TO TAKE CHILDREN ON TRIPS AND OUTING
  • PRE-ARRANGED ALTERNATIVE CARE PERMISSION
  • EYFS (SAFEGUARDING AND PROMOTING CHILDRENS WELFARE
  • OUTING POLICY
  • EYFS ( PARENTS UPDATE FORM)
  • PROCEDURE FOR ALLEGATIONS OF ABUSE AGAINST A CHILDMINDER OF A MEMBER OF THEIR HOUSEHOLD

I also have lots of forms which are very good when you writting reports about individual child's learning and development which is now requested by EYFS.

As I said I still have not work as childminder so I dont really know what is "new" and "old" policy.

If you need any help with above policies plz contact me on [email protected]

SammyK · 30/03/2009 10:57

Well I have sussed how I want to do my poicies and procedures. I have organised them into the general welfare requirements of the EYFS. Almost got that finished thankfully, am off to the range now for laminating pouches - putting pics on my toyboxes. (Sad emotion) I really need to get a life.
