How much shall I pay a childminder for 1 day?

I live in Lincolnshire and am wanting to go into my husbands office 1 day a month. I have absolutely no idea how much to pay a childminder for the day. Any idea?????? The hours would probably be 9.30 - 5.00.

A Childminder is someone who works in their own home, is self-employed and sets their own rates (you can look at the childcarelink website for information on rates for your area, just put your postcode in).

If you want someone in your own home then you need a Nanny (or maybe Au Pair if your children are old enough?). Can't help with rates of pay on that one I'm afraid.

She will tell you what her charge is, you don't tell her. It is her own business. If you want someone in your home and wish to decide on the salary you'll need a nanny as mentioned already.

Meant to say with a nanny you'd need to 'employ' them and therefore sort their tax and NI out I believe? The problem is, if you only want someone 1 day a month, you're going to find it hard to get someone to do that so may be best with either some kind of nannyshare or maybe using an agency for a temp nanny each time? (but obviously best if children have same person each time)

Childminders set their own rates, you might struggle to find one to take on a child for 1 day a week though.

It might be a good idea to look at emergency childcare co.uk... they have CMs who offer emergency spaces if they have the vacancy available. It'll be difficult getting someone only once a month tbh. But then again you might find someone who is fine with this
