Morning everyone.

Well it's friday again an with everything going on this week I have put some extras into the corner. dim lights, bean bags, face masks etc, so we can all chill out and relax.

I am off to do some shopping after taking DD to school.

Variuos items of cooked breakfast and toast on the table. Kettles are hot so please help yourselves.

That sounds nice

I need to chill

mumsanutter · 13/03/2009 08:48

Thank you mumlove, breakfast is nice and hot.

Hello everyone

looneytune · 13/03/2009 09:53

Oh yum, thanks for that, really needed it Couldn't believe it when the doorbell went at 8am I dived out of bed and put my dressing gown on and was very greatful it was a mummy dropping off and not a daddy! 2nd time in 4 years so not that I make a habit but still! I blame the fact I have a cold, got back from course last night near 10ish and then had a late dinner and beer to celebrate inspection no longer looming over my head!! Anyway, the mum was fine, just never got my morning cuppa so having it now instead

Hope you're all well, catch up later.

Katy.......please please tell us.........just say yes or no....you got an o/s didn't you?!!!

KatyMac · 13/03/2009 09:54

yes

& now they want to reduce my numbers....go figure??

KatyMac · 13/03/2009 09:56

I am allowed to confirm it - just not to offer it

looneytune · 13/03/2009 10:13

Stupid isn't it!!! But......

CONGRATULATIONS - we've all known on here for years you are OUTSTANDING Can't wait to read the report when it's published!

What's this about numbers? Why do the want to decrease?

looneytune · 13/03/2009 10:18

Oh, Katy, you still going ahead with the nursery?

KatyMac · 13/03/2009 10:18

When there are 3 of us we can have 3 under1
When there are 2 of us we can have 3 under 1
When there is 1 of us we can have 2 under 1

But not anymore

So I can't take on more than 1 under 1 because as children & staff attend quite flexibly it could happen that an individual could have 2 under 1

You know - someone is off sick or swops a day, or nips out on the school run leave 2 under 1's behind

I am seriously considering giving up

If I ran a nursery I could have 3 under 1 all the time - we just have the variation (& have for 5 yrs) as an operating convenience

KatyMac · 13/03/2009 10:19

Nursery died last May - when the bank removed my funding (credit crunch)

looneytune · 13/03/2009 10:20

Oh......red nose emoticons!!! This is just for Katy to say well done....

looneytune · 13/03/2009 10:24

Oh Katy that's STUPID!!! I'm allowed 2 under 1's, lots of childminders are so if it's only on odd occasion, what's their problem as long as the overall numbers are ok??!!!

Sorry about the nursery, I know it stopped then it started again and I lost track. Stupid credit crunch

So even though you had a fab inspection you want to quit? Has this numbers issue come up since the inspection? What do you fancy doing if you stop?

HSMM · 13/03/2009 10:27

Had the cheese and marmite panini for breakfast - Yum (must go and clean teeth again!)

Katy - why are Ofsted soooo inconsistent about variations. It's such a pain. I seem to be changing mine nearly every week, because Mums keep swapping days and times! Surely if I can look after 4 under 5s on a Monday, then I could also look after 4 under 5s on a Tuesday (same person, equipment, time, etc)

KatyMac · 13/03/2009 10:29

Since the inspection

I don't know, maybe 'OFSTED Inspector'

I have had it - it is a constant round of new rules and changes

Despite being OS I understand I will be getting an extensive list of recommendations so I really feel atm 'what is the point?'

& my mum is ill
& DH is ill
& my OU is due in on Tuesday

mumlove · 13/03/2009 12:34

Sandwiches, fruit, cake on the table and the kettles are hot.

looneytune · 13/03/2009 12:40

Katy - I could see you being an Ofsted Inspector.

Actually, that reminds me......although Shoshe didn't go for that in the end, did anything come about from the Children's Centre job???

nomoreamover · 13/03/2009 12:41

oh katy - why give you OS and then belittle it by giving you a long list of improvements - doesn't make any sense at all - they said you were OS so therefore you are faberoonie and going above and beyong the normal requirements. Why can't they just pat you on the back and say well done.

Well WELL DONE! from us anyway - you worked very hard for it so you deserve it

I've decided to go part time. Have discussed a change of hours with one mindee - which mum has agreed to so yippee and one sadly will have to go - but I need to have some days to work on my courses and my paperwork so am very happy to be cutting down my days.

Katy is this something you could consider? I just feel that constant minding 5 days a week is very detrimental to my home life and my professional development now that there is so much to do......

looneytune · 13/03/2009 12:54

Katy, sorry, missed the bits about illnesses etc. Sounds like you could do with something that doesn't take SO much work! And agree about list of improvements etc, my inspector yesterday said that she was only going to put one recommendation down and that is to further develop my obs which I was upfront with her about and said was my weakness. So although I got outstanding elements (wish I knew which ones now!! grr), my overall result was Good and not O/S like you yet I only had one recommendation - doesn't make sense to me!!!

nomoreamover · 13/03/2009 12:56

exactly looney - its mental isn't it?! Katy - you need to concentrate on you and your mum now - ofsted have had their time - now its your family's turn....

looneytune · 13/03/2009 12:57

Totally agree. You've had far too much going on for so long now, I think you need to chill out a bit hun xxx

Shoshe · 13/03/2009 13:11

Well done Katy!!!!!! But WF are they changing your numbers for!

And no havnt heard anything about job, not even a thanks but no thanks!

Berryred · 13/03/2009 13:13

hiya, friday chill

Got no kids now between 9-3 they moved away boohooo

Being shopping for ds birthday

Well done Katy on your OS, I haven;t been around much so sorry to here about the cc.

KatyMac · 13/03/2009 21:17

Because you are only allowed a short term variation for named children on certain days

Which means instead of 3 F/T under 1 spaces I can only have 1 incase staff are off or the children need to swop days

It has worked so well for 5 yrs it seems a shame to mess around now
