I'm looking for an au pair

Does anyone know of any au pairs that are looking for a new family?

I am in Herts and have 3 school aged children.

I would much rather get a nice girl recommended by someone here that a random person that I know nothing about.

No immediate rush but obviously sooner is better!

I found ours on Au Pair World on the net.

It went really well as I knew what I was looking for ie. a Uni student for the summer. We travel a bit so went to Italy and met her which put our mind (and hers) at rest. Cheap flights etc probably on a par with an agency and also got to meet her without all the guff from the agency.

We emailed alot and kind of got to know each other before this meeting though.

I'm also in Herts and have never had any luck with APWorld or GreatAP on the net. I think Herts can be quite a difficult place to get an AP as we're not in London (or a large City) nor on the coast or in a tourist area.

I've always had to use an agency and at least that way I know they've had some checks done on them and I get references to follow up. It's always a risk though!

My current AP has made a huge network of AP friends locally so if she mentions that any of them are looking for new jobs I'll post on here.

I am in herts and have used Norma Lewis domestic staff twice and have found her to be excellent and have had 2 good girls from her.

We're in East Herts (Broxbourne) but most of my APs friends are in Hertford/Ware and she has one in St Albans.

I'm sure she'd be happy to meet up with your AP if she's local to us.
