Cycle to work scheme - anyone done this??

My nanny wants to get a bike to cycle to work and I was thinking about doing the Government's cycle to work scheme to let her get a bike cheaper. But it does look like a bit of a faff, especially as I've only got the one employee! (I know, I know - times are tough. ) Has anyone been mad enough to do this themselves? Or any other comments?

Not for my nanny, but we offer it at work and I'm fairly sure the admin of the actual purchase is fairly straightforward. There are some forms to fill in, but it's not too onerous. Obviously you need to adjust the tax afterwards - probably fine if you understand how that all works. It is a great scheme - really good way of buying a bike for a reasonable price and spreading the cost.

I'm sure that isn't much help, but I'm sure your nanny would be thrilled if you sorted it out for her.

Same here - I've done it through work, and there it was really pretty straight forward. See here

Thanks both for your encouragement. I've had a look at the HMRC advice and got a bit stuck on some of the lingo but I haven't thrown in the towel yet!

Sorry SalLikesCoffee, should have said - just looked at the Evans stuff and it all looks quite straightforward. a lot easier than i'd thought!

We use Evans. They are very used to it, and make it all very straightforward.

We use Halfords at work - they own BikeHut too. It works well for the employees here. Do you use a payroll agency? They might have views.
