Hi Everyone - mums, nannies and everyone else!

I am trying to gain some experience as a babysitter. I have put an ad on "find a sitter" but had no replies. I am just wondering if anyone could advise me on where to advertise locally? I am thinking of just getting out there and putting up cards - at playcentres, the library etc
Babysitters what has worked for you? Mums where would you look for a babysitter?

I have seen the thread with everyone advertising thier babysitting services but I'm not in London, I'm in Chester, Cheshire.

Any advice much appreciated, (my first post on mumsnet, although I have lost whole hours lurking and reading posts on here!)

thankyou,
Catherine

Hi Catherine,
When I first babysat, I put up an advert in the local post office and it worked really well, then I got other jobs through word of mouth. Have you tried your neighbours? Parents are very cautious these days, as they should be, so try and get some volunteer work in a nursery. I even volunteered for a year with the brownies and that really helped me too.

you could also try gumtree

maybe join sitters and safehands childcare who are both babysitting agencies

do you have a 'families' free local magazine?
