Public Liability Insurance - can I just pay for 6 months?

As that is all I will need?

will not be continuing childminding after 6 months so don't want to have to pay for 12! Do NCMA or MM offer this??

No idea I'm afraid. I would suggest you call the insurance providers and ask them.
