We've got about 4 inches here! Dh is wondering if he should trek to school in slough! Sometimes I'm glad I work at home.................

We have snow too. I hate driving in this weather. Got school and nursery so have to take the car. Are schools likely to be closed where you are?

Numberfour · 02/02/2009 07:17

Looks like about 6 inches in Woking. Also wondering if the schools will close. I really don't fancy driving anywhere - and no chance of walking up a long steep hill with a full double buggy to take 6 year old to school!

It is so pretty here! Even our boring street looks lovely.....

aGalChangedHerName · 02/02/2009 07:24

Hmm mindee who is at school is 6 and will whinge the face off me if i make him walk (could wake ds1 to watch the dd's) and the little mindee would need the buggy, nightmare to push too.

If mindee's mum had kept him and taken him to school (she is at home today) it would have solved a problem.

aGalChangedHerName · 02/02/2009 07:25

Better go,mindee finished brekkie. Hope you manage out and about today everyone!!

eleanorsmum · 02/02/2009 07:29

Dh's school in slough is closed, one mindee not coming as the paretns are at same school. just one more to hear from.

Am hoping dd's school is shut - she's still got ear infection and don't want her to get cold! Also can anyone tell me what do schools do when a child needs antibiotics? She could go if i made her ok in herself really but needs med at 12.30 ish.

Morning everyone.

We have snow to and it's still snowing, but can still see the grass at the moment in the garden so will wait a little long to see if it settles. We rarely get snow here.

local radio hasn't listed DD's school so have to go out.

Happy snow to you all.

nomoreamover · 02/02/2009 07:49

Mindee poorly today so an unexpected day off! Lots and lots of paperwork to sort out tho - am very behind!

We've got loads of snow but the county have been out gritting on the main roads so school runs should be safe enough.

Stay safe everyone x

KatyMac · 02/02/2009 07:55

We have less than an inch - but loads of schools are closed. The wind is more scarey than the snow here.

AB at school there are 3 general methods

  1. keep them at home
  2. you go to school at lunchtime to give them
  3. fill in a form & they will do it

Schools seem to pick one at random

MaureenMLove · 02/02/2009 08:01

Any room for an ex-CM who has an unexpected day off?

eleanorsmum · 02/02/2009 08:41

hi mo! I too will soon be an ex-cm so mayve we can have our own staffroom! I'm going to be a teaching assistant at dd's school - perfect!

got one mindee here but only till lunchtime ish - need to try and get some weliies for dd as hers are at school.....................

aGalo, I would be really annoyed if I were you! all my kids off today but one mum said she would see how the conditions were this afternoon.

got loads of paperwork to do to (need to become an accredited CM to be able to access the funding available through LA for doing the EYPS)but with DS and DH around...... not much chance of too much paperwork happening.

nomoreamover · 02/02/2009 09:02

numberfour-thats what I am workign on too. How far have you got? Its quite tough going fitting it all in I am finding - or am I just not organised?!!

Tabbykat · 02/02/2009 09:04

Lots of snow here in Kent - all mindees have cancelled, even though one only lives in the next road. Should really catch up on the paperwork but DD wants to go to the park to build a snow cat!

Numberfour · 02/02/2009 09:16

Hi, nomoreetc, do you mean the accreditation or EYPS? only received the accreditation paperwork Friday and we were out all weekend. As for the EYP I am on the 6 month short pathway but have loads and loads to do.

nannynick · 02/02/2009 09:24

Lookout out of my window, I would guess it's 4 to 6 inches here in Lightwater Surrey. Monday is my day off... so I've got no plans. Was due to be babysitting this evening, but that has been cancelled now, as the school event the parents were going to has been cancelled.
Have schools opened today, or have you all got schoolies around?

KatyMac · 02/02/2009 09:27

Nick - I think I have picked a printer - come & tell me what is wrong with it

leonifay · 02/02/2009 09:43

mindees have cancelled here too, with the school clousure dad decided to take the day off work too. so now i have the day off!
random question, whats eyps, i know what eyfs is, but have i missed something??
hope everyone else has a fun day in the snow.

crace · 02/02/2009 09:58

No school here either! And no mindee so day off! In the SE and only 2-3" and all trains cancelled. Very weird

eleanorsmum · 02/02/2009 10:05

eyps = early years professional status. its a level 6 qualification.

Am in Kent and its snowing BUT am at school. On my free actually!

looneytune · 02/02/2009 10:09

Morning all. Kept ds1 off school today as it wasn't going to be a normal school day anyway and now they are finishing early - I didn't fancy pushing a heavy triple buggy to school! lol. Ds1 was in the snow around 8ish, snow angels etc. The other kids are 1 and parents prefer them indoors which is FINE by me as it's too cold and ds2 is too young aswell. So we've been doing snow pics (white crayons and black paper). Just thinking of other things for my snow theme day

Hi Mo And everyone else.

Catchya later
