Childminders and Bank Holidays!!!!

Hi, am just trying to work out how I charge for bank holidays and need some help.

I am happy to work bank holidays but at the rate of time and a half, that part is easy, but if the parents do not want their children with me do I charge nothing, half pay, full pay or what? Am confused. Then if there is a bank holiday I don't want to work would that be free to them as I am not available?

Please help.

i get full pay for bank hols - I'm available if they want unless i state i'm on hols then don't charge anything. Never had anyone wnating me on one though!

Thanks eleanorsmum, so if they did take you up on a bank holiday would you charge your normal hourly rate or more?

My cm charges £35 per "normal" day. On our contract it says that she may make herself available for statutory (bank) hols and she will charge £40 which sounds a bargain to me. However she doesn't have dd on a Monday anyway (which is when most of the bank hols are) and she in not available for 1 week at Christmas.

I have never charged for Bank Holidays - I can be available for an extra fee - it can be a real pain over Easter as I loose 2 days pay - maybe worth a re-think!!

I charge full for bank holidays if its a contracted day and am NOT available to work. If I am needed to work then I charge double time. I look at this is my only 'perk' I don't charge for any of my holidays or sick time etc.

I charge full whack for bank holidays if they are a contracted day - regardless of whether they need me to work or not. (But obviously don't charge someone for BH if their days are say Tue, thu, fri)

If I end up working a bank holiday I charge time and a half.
