Would you have your hair cut while your mindee is asleep?

May sound rediculous but I have taken on some very last min childcare, looking after a little girl, 1 year old last min (litterally was here within 20 mins of orginal phone call). I have been desperate to get my hair cut and have somebody who can do it today at my house. I know that I can probably tie it in with her Nap, so she wouldn't know anything about it, or at the very worst, get DH to take them (Have a DD same age) for a walk while I have it done.

DO you think this is ok? Worried as the parent might be annoyed? Should I tell her first?

I was doing her a big favour by taking on her DD at such short notice which is why I couldn't go to a normal hair dresser.

I'd tell her first, but I really can't see any problem.

hmm..considering that this was a last minute arrangement, I think it would be fine....however, might be worth just mentioning it and explaining to the parent...but I can't see how the parent would be able to make a fuss about it, if you do them a favour!

My husband is a registered assistant by the way, not sending children off to random people! Lol

I would tell the parent. I have taken my regular mindees to the hairdressers with me before. Their parents knew. We preceded the visit with a trip to the library to get them books to read. Everyone was fine about it. It's a real life experiences, isn't it? (Depends on the kids)

My kids come with me to the doc for basic checkups etc. as long as the parent knows then it's fine

TheOtherMaryPoppinsJingles · 23/12/2008 14:02

I'd just ring and ask, I would think as it was a last minute thing they wouldn't mind. Or as your hubby is an assistant then that's fine isn't it? Just like taking lunch break?

Coldtits · 23/12/2008 14:03

As your husband is registered assistant, surely this is fine? Sure, let her know, but I wouldn't have a problem with you doing this.

And it's a very normal thing to do, very 'Homey' which is usually why peole favour child minders.

Mine goes and collects avon brochures with her minder - certainly wouldn't mind a haircut !!
Very jealous as can't get mine done though

Got it done. Hairdresser said loads of CM do it and they all worry it is a bit cheeky to get paid and have hair done!
