Good Morning.

Two toddlers, my 4 year old, 2 schoolies. Two school goers to school, the rest of us to CM friend for DS's settling in for when I am at uni on Thursdays next year, back home for lunch and toddlers sleep, collect one school child, one hour later collect other school child, all children leave by 5.30, off to DS's nativity play, collapse and wait for tomorrow.....

20 hours of childminding left for the year.

Leonifay - I agree with No4 and LMG, please give notice, for you. More importantly look after yourself, and I hope that your op goes ok.

Ds3 is now in the car with daddy on his way to A and E, his temp has hit 104 and calpol and nurofen aren't touching it!!!!

NumberFour · 18/12/2008 12:26

WWYD: it is my 4 year old's nursery nativity today. he is a sheep and he does not want to take part. should I try to persuade him? should i not push the issue?

i have asked all the parents to collect their kids early. i am worried if i say come at normal time cos there is no play after all, that DS may change his mind at last minute and decide he wants to be in play.

should i just leave parental arrangements as is and not push the issue with DS? he is so tired that convincing him to go tonight would be a Bad Move.

So what to do about parents collecting early?

Mums, hope your LO okay! Boy, your poor family has had enough illness.

mumsanutter · 18/12/2008 12:42

Thanks No4 - ds3 is unfortunately prone to illness, he has a diary and walnut allery and is 'asmatic', so a normal cold that will make a LO ill seems to knock him out!!!

Re your play, I would still get the parents t collect early and see how you ds is, he might after all change his mind, but if he really doesn't want to do it then just have a relaxing time at home with him. Don't push him, as this could make him not want to do it even more - ds2 is like this!!!

LoveMyGirls · 18/12/2008 12:46

Hope your ds is ok Mums

I agree with you about the play mums.

ToysAreLikeDogs · 18/12/2008 12:51

Blimey these bugs and viruses are vile aren't they?

Mindees have gone home, toddler has diarrhoea (sp)

I can't believe that your parent is so unwilling to accept that their child should not be with you with D and V,leonifay.

Do you have a sickness policy that you can put into action - if not then we can help you to formulate one over the holidays, ready for the next time.

I hope you all feel better soon

[ignores Shoshe]

Am working Mon and Tues next week, ah well

mumlove · 18/12/2008 12:56

Afternoon everyone.

Downstairs and car free from minding bits , but upstairs now needs sorting as have thrown it all in the spare room and not sure if DSS is here for xmas yet.

No.4 - Let the parents collect early and take your son to watch the play, i'm sure he will still love to see his friends.

leonifay - I would contact the other emergency contacts for mindee to get picked up. Hope your op goes well.

Sorry we still have lots of ill people ((((hugs)))) for everyone.

Off to sort out some more.

PinkChick · 18/12/2008 14:07

Hi everyone, sorry to hear a lot of you are ill and Leoni..i would AND HAVE give notice to people like that, sometimes i wonder if they remember THEY ARE HUMAN and that THEY are the parent NOT YOU!..you can hide behind h&S guidlines if you feel better that way, esp if child is ill (making you/mindees ill aswell)..honestly, i wouldnt be doing ANY favours for a parnet who treat me like this!

Well dd back at school today, still not 100% but now the cough has come out as well as cold, but temo and general wellness is good..hoepully shes had a good class aprty
Just one baby asleep here at min, then pick dd and one mindee up at 3, one home at 4 then last at 5.15..off to shops to hopefully grab something remotley edible for Christmas dinner before its all gone!(and i ahvent ordered anything!)..then got 3 mindees tomorrow all day as nursery broke up today, shopping and night out at weekend, one baby for just the afty on mon, then am OFF..put hols in from wed, but no one needs me tues..so

Will be nice to spend time with dd and get house tidyed up for a week or so
Off to try and add to shopping list now!..hope you all feel better soon..oh and mums, how did hosp go??..is it 23rd you're back??
Take Care

mumsanutter · 18/12/2008 14:23

Pinky,

The hospital went well the ultrasound was clear just showed an inflamed lymph node but the doctor wasn't concerned, and yes the follow up is on the 23rd so will talk to the other doctor then, but hopefully we are all clear!!!

Have a great hols

cmnorthtyne · 18/12/2008 14:33

My DS got the dreaded sickness bug (prob picked up from other mindee anyway), parents still expecting to send kids tomorrow - I don't think so!!! Will probably have it myself by then anyway. I know they are at home tomorrow anyway so tough! I wouldn't be patronised by a parent like that - tell them it's not working out and give notice. It has to be a 2 way contract - I bet when they are ill they still send their kids to you cos they need to rest, go to bed, feel sorry for themselves..............

leonifay · 18/12/2008 14:34

thankyou everyone i think i will give notice to the parent, and i do have a sickness policy but she seems to ignore it and i dont know how to make her come and pick her ds up!

mums i really do hope you get the all clear, i have my fingers crossed for you.

cmnorthtyne · 18/12/2008 14:38

Take ds to her........ then remind her of your sickness policy. If you catch it you can't work and that will affect everyone.

WhileShosheWatchedHerFlocks · 18/12/2008 17:04

Leoni, email her tonight, stating that your sickness policy says that a child with D&V is not allowed in your setting (Include the whole sickness policy) then telephone her to make sure she has the email, the lock your door and do not answer it in the morning.

I would also give her immediate notice, stating that as she had broken her contract by not sticking to the sickness policy, and therefore putting others at risk, as well as being unreachable, knowing the child was ill. It Is atrocious behaviour from any parent!

mumsanutter · 18/12/2008 18:09

UPDATE - My little man is on a ward at hospital, with a chest infection. I am hoping that both he and hubby will be home tonight, DH is waiting to see what the doctors say.

NumberFour · 18/12/2008 18:27

oh, mums! surely the being that hands out Bad Luck has had your number for long enough!

except of course for the ultrasound results. that's just fooking fabulous!

leonay: what's the update with your situation?

i have a DH full of cold, a DS who is shattered and who only wanted to eat crap all day (if i did not have crap in the house.... etc etc etc, yes I know!)
