anyone used either of the above to sort nanny payroll? any comments on them good/bad or otherwise would be welcome?

I know you get an employer law helpline thrown in on nanny tax but have heard good things about way2paye offering a more personal service.

think nannytax are more exp

but my employers have used both and had no problems with either

We use nannytax (but only for last 6 weeks) and so far I think they are great and have found the legal helpline very good too.

thanks all - may go with nannytax then as their online service appeals

nannytax were rubbish for me this year. They produced a P45 and payslips three months after employee left, forgot to tell me how much tax I had to pay, but remembered to forward me the IR reminder letter with a stern accompanying note, then ignored my complaint letter; sent a renewal reminder two months early; and when I phoned up they didn't know anything because I was speaking to the renewal dept who didn't have my file; ignored my phonecalls and emails for months; etc etc. Perhaps it depends on the particular person who deals with your files but that's not good enough for a service that costs £260/year. Oh and on times when I needed advice I could never get through to their adviceline.

Nannytax's legal advice service is good (and I have found I needed it several times), they help you prepare a contract too. The payroll service can be good when it is working efficiently -e.g. they will happily revise payslips at the last minute if you need to add overtime or make deductions. However, they can be a bit hit and miss sometimes - for the first few months I never got the payslip and had to ring up and ask them for it. I think something had gone wrong in the admin somewhere and either it wasn't being sent out or they had my address wrong. Have also had an incidence of them franking the envelope on the back instead of the address side - the letter reached me but might be reason why I didn't get the payslip in some previous months. Their phone line can be busy sometimes - there have been times when I haven't been able to get through, left a message and noone called back.
