leonifay · 12/12/2008 08:29

good morning all and woohoo for the countdown, althought i've been duped in to working christmas i really need to lern the word no!
off to toddlers this morning, then making smowglobes this afternoon, for my mindee to give as presents to his mum and nanna.

KatyMac · 12/12/2008 08:29

Morning all

The Christmas Tree is going up today - both in the playroom & in the house (might do the house tomorrow with DD)

Busy day - contracts to be done plus I'm hoping to get my hair cut

DD is off out t play after school, no mindees to pick up & lst child leaves at 4:45

So quite a quiet day

mumsanutter · 12/12/2008 09:01

Morning, only 1 mindee today from 3.15 to 4.30, so not alot on. Ds1 has now finished school - the health autority has closed it due to norovirus, ds3 has his nursery christmas party and hopefully ds4 will slepp this am - has stopped sleeping again!!

I am working over christmas as well, but thought that dh was going to be working so said yes. I was quite right about him having the rest of december off work - it hasn't happened he is back into work today and the whole of next week

southernbelle77 · 12/12/2008 09:17

Morning all! two mindees for me today, both of which screamed most of yesterday so today should be fun!! Have a headache already!

Walking round to another childminders this morning to play then back for lunch and sleeps with any luck! I soooooooo need the Christmas break. I am so tired!

enjoy your days off and your parties

COOLiciclepuddleonfloor · 12/12/2008 09:25

Morning everyone, I too am working over Christmas (just one mindee coming though, and its only mornings).

We are making christmas cakes today.

Have a good one

SammyK · 12/12/2008 09:33

I only have one week left too! Woohoo!

Just waiting for kettle to boil and mindee to arrive, we are putting our tree up this evening I am all excited.

We put up new bunks (with a trundle bed) in ds's room, our 3 boys are sharing that bedroom now, and we have bunks in our 3rd bedroom so we can (hopefully) foster siblings.

NumberFour · 12/12/2008 11:09

5 days and 7 hours left of work.....

hello, all! roll on 6pm. I have a cold and am feeling VERY sorry for myself.

PinkChick · 12/12/2008 12:24

Hi all, just printing out some photys to put into our snowglabes (99p from home bargains!)..one mindee(who was ill and on meds) acme this morn and asked to go to lay down!?..hes been asleep since 9.15!..other mindee is getting early, so asked mum if she wants me to leave him (not take him to nursery-shouldnt be with me 'really' as he really cant manage the school runs hes so exhausted)..so thats what were doing, so only one school run at 3.
baby arriving in half an hour so going to get mindee two lunch sorted and tidy away our crafty stff

im working up till 23rd, so got some time yet

WhileShosheWatchedHerFlocks · 12/12/2008 12:28

Been to the hairdresser this morning, got to run errands in a bit.

Have a good day.

PinkChick · 12/12/2008 16:26

Well hows that for a kick in the teeth..the parent of mindee who should have been at home getting well for the past 2 weeks but has instead been sent to me, only for him to throw up/be sent home constantly and whom was refused care by nursery today due to him being ill and on meds, so i stayed in ALL day with him and other mindees while he slept, whom ive also had weeks of trouble with at school trying to find out how to help him stop being bullied while no one else lifted a finger...has now just given me notice!...of course denying ALL knowledge of contracts t&c and notice period, instead telling ME when he will leave and when i suggest i sense there may be more to her reason than the generic one they gave, they had a go at me for ebing defensive!......am in total tears, i felt like saying..ALL ive done for YOU and your LO and this is the thanks i get!

NumberFour · 12/12/2008 17:26

pinkchick, sometimes I wonder why i do this work, too. I have sent a letter to a parent demanding payment. she texted me today asking how I slept at night demanding money from people when I had not done the work and that she was seeing the CAB about the "unfair treatment" she received from me.

at the very least, Pinkchick, it is the weekend! have a glass of wine or 3.

PinkChick · 12/12/2008 19:14

hope you get it sorted chick..why do 'some' people treat us like a piece of crap..i do have some WONDERFUL parents, and know that one day their children would have to leave too, but they are sooooooo considerate and lovely, then you get people like this...am So annoyed at how far backwards i bent for them and got shit on from such a great height

will be typing up acceptance of notice tonight, enclosing contract and highlighting lengh of notice required..which DOES NOT INCLUDE ANY PAID HOLIDAY..so will be an extra 2 weeks for my hols over christmas...am sick of 'letting people off' and doing favours for people like this, am sticking to my contracts now!

southernbelle77 · 12/12/2008 19:16

This job can be horrible at times can't it. Mainly to do with parents who think we are not worth considering. I hope you are ok PC and you too NumberFour.

I've had a hell of a week (screaming children ) and am soooooo pleased it is the weekend.

KatyMac · 12/12/2008 20:55

Is this reasonable?

A friend (not very close) - our DD's are very good friends & DH sees her very often has a baby

She has asked me to have the baby as a one off this week

Is it OK to say that I won't change her for this (it really is a one off - unusual circs) but that if she would like she can register for ad-hoc care (£10 admin) & then she can use me whenever she likes

Or is that cheeky - should I only bring up the ad-hoc if she asks again?

PinkChick · 12/12/2008 20:59

have just done leter, can anyone confiirm till i can speak to ncma in morn that im right saying(stated in contract) that a notice period DOES NOT include any paid holidays or time off?..ie: as in we're all off over christmas and i start back beginning of jan?
meaning those two weeks are NOT aprt of notice period?

thanks

KatyMac · 12/12/2008 21:14

Not sure PC - what does the back of the contract say?

NumberFour · 13/12/2008 08:32

KatyM: I think that you would be perfectly in order to tell her that. After all, she is asking you to look after her LO because you are a (superb) childminder! She would not be asking you if you were an accountant, iyswim.

Pinkchick: it is very likely that your contract states that notice period does not include time off. Check your contract. If you use the NCMA ones and have not amended that section on the back of the contract (the teeny tiny grey writing!) then the notice period does not include time off.

Let's hope my ex-mum delivers her cheque to me today. I had said in the letter of demand I would issue summons in the small claims court on 12 Dec if I had not received payment. The ridiculous thing is that I do not have the money to summons her right now!!!
