CM Club - Finger food problems with almost 1 yr old......advice please

You'd think with having gone through all this finger food stuff with at least 8 babies, I'd know what to do but this one has me questioning myself.....

Mindee is almost one and we've been trying finger foods recently. So far with me she once ate a bit of a cheese sandwich when we were out and about in the pram and at mine she's had some cheese on it's own but refuses everything else until last week I managed to get her to have a little bit of pear.

Now, at home her mum said she'll eat quite a few mini rice cakes. The most she's ever had with me is 1 mini rice cake, the rest of the time she throws it down to the floor. Part of me thinks it's because I make children sit down to eat and so she's in a highchair or sat at the toddler table. NOw, at toddler group she'll very happily have a biscuit!!! But fruit she throws about.

I know at home she eats things like cheesy wotsits and other crisps (has a healthy diet apart from that) and chocolate buttons and things. I'm in 2 minds as to whether it's a) not wanting to be sat when eating or b) she doesn't like my snacks as they are not full of flavour like the wotsits etc. If it's b, I refuse to start giving proper crisps and other not so healthy snacks as it's not fair on the others.

Anyone else come across this sort of problem? The hardest bit for me is when mum says she will have them when with her

stick to your guns girl. it's not right to give one junk and not the others! you need to keep offering healthy stuff when with you (it might be all they get!) perhaps try the flavoured rice cakes like marmite ones or ornage and breadstciks with a dip too.

ps hows things anyway! i'm still in my confused stae over what to do with my life! was great to chat at the meeting the other day. must try and catch up soon.............

Don't you worry, I will be sticking to my guns. She eats all the healthy stuff when mushy but not as finger food but I'm getting fed up of trying things all the time and it ALL going in the bin without being tried. I've tried the mini apple rice cakes and she eats these at home but chucks them on the floor most of the time for me. I'm a bit stuck as to why.

Do you think I should say to mum I'll leave finger food at lunch until after Christmas? and maybe say I'll give the rice cakes here at snack time (as has at home) but nothing else if she doesn't eat them? And then start again after Christmas?

Just trying to decide what to do for the best.

I'm ok thanks although extremely tired as baby been bad at night again. Last night was only every 3 hours but night before was every single hour through the night. Just fed up with it now and want him well again! Was lovely seeing you too and yes, we should catch up again soon. Hope you manage to make a decision. I know if I didn't have my latest addition, I'd be looking to work in a school or something if possible as had enough of it all now (not the kids...the rest of it!)

I am having the same issues with mindee who is 15 months! Has been on pureed jar food whole life and will only tolerate VERY little lumps but these often get spat out. Trying to get mindee to eat fingers foods is proving pretty hard. I have resorted to pureeing my homecooked food as I do not have the time to keep trying right now. So really, ANY help gratefully received!
