My babysitter last night was a STAR...

My friends daugher has just turned 14, in the last month or so. She is very level headed, has a 6 year old brother who she spent a lot of time caring for as her mother was unwell for a while so she sort of became carer.

Anyway, now she is old enough to earn some money for herself, we asked her to babysit, she was very happy to. We going to a friends birthday party, were literally mins walk at the other end of our road so able to come home immediately if needed.

Just as we were about to head out from the party (coat on) when she called, sweetly asking if we were planning on coming back soon, as DD had been sick, she was fine, but been unweill. We were come 2 mins later!

She had taken off the bedlinen, folded it in a ball so the sick was inside it, wiped down DDs bed, showered her, got her some water, got a spare old blanket from cupboard and had her on the sofa asleep when we got back. She had actually bee sick a few times in the last 1.5 hours before we came back. She did not want to disturb us as she said we did not go out together often! She said, 'its no big deal, I used to do this for my brother whenever he was sick, I would have called if I was worried'

We gave her £20. Now I need to think about what fab present to get her for xmas to say thank you.

AND it does not appear to have put her off! A Gem of a girl.

. She was a star, so calm and un-phased. Even DH would have freaked a little bit...

(I have just re-read my OP, How embarrassing, so many errors in there! I am so impatient, I never re-read it before posting it, will have to sort that out!)

What a perfect babysitter and so sweet thinking of you and DH, now I don't know any 14 year old girls so unable to help on the present idea

edam · 07/12/2008 11:28

What a lovely girl! Shame I'm not up on what 14yo girls like so can't suggest anything.

PavlovtheCat · 07/12/2008 11:32

We usually get her vouchers as she is of an age that means we would get it wrong whatever we bought! But, I think I would like to get her something better than that...I will ask her dad, he will know (i would say, I am sure, but I am not lol!).

What a lovely girl! She truly is a star. Am very impressed. My college aged babysitters would not have managed to do that!

PavlovtheCat · 07/12/2008 15:05

I love the lariat style one...that is very her...bling!!

Apparantly according to her dad she was very pleased with her wages!!!
