C.M.s Is this the norm for inspections?

I recently got inspected for the first time and am a little shocked and upset at some of things the inspector did. I was asked to label and talk about four areas of abuse infront of mindees and lunch guests were asked to watch mindees and their friends in seperate room so she could talk to me in private. Has anyone else had anything similar happen and do you think I should contact OFSTED? People I've spoken to feel this was very unprofessional, I've no idea though as it was my first time.

Did they downgrade you due to you letting lunch guests supervise the mindees? I feel you should have refused to let the mindees out of your sight - due to child protection issues, insurance issues etc.
If you are unhappy with an inspectors conduct, you can contact Ofsted CIE (or whatever the complaints dept are called at the moment) and lodge a formal complaint against the Inspection Procedures (rather than the individual, as the individual was probably just following orders).

I wouldn't have had lunch guests when i was being inspected tbh. I would also have refused to discuss abuse. You are not allowed to let others supervise/care for mindees.

How odd!

Abuse should not be spoken about in front of mindees! Did inspector as if you had done child portection training? Or have a CP policy? Or visitors book? Or visitors policy?

I would have refused to be out of room mindees were in, wouldn't have left guests with mindees alone either. Why did she need to talk to you in private? Who were your guests?

I would write to Ofsted with your concerns if I were you.

I was told that they were coming to inspect me early September........and they still have no turned up since!!! So I could well see them coming and me having people here (normally other CM's for lunch!)

That does seem a bit odd, I would put it in writing about the abuse conversation and see what they say

I had explained over the phone that the date was a no go for me and that I couldn't cancel the lunch as it was a mindees B'day party lunch, which all mindees were excited about. She chose to turn up regardless. As for guests watching mindees they were also registered CMs and inspector said it was O.K. as they had been police checked, although after reading feed back I wish I had refused to allow this to happen. I spelt everything out around the abuse questions, but once again, wish I had asked her to change the subject. Thanks for your feed back everyone.
