I am looking for help with getting my 14 week old son to sleep better at night and to help with a daytime routine. Has anyone ever used night nannies to help sleep train adn provide routine?

night nannies emailed me to ask if i would join their agency - i have ads on some sites/forums stating that i do nn

but when they told me their rates of pay, i refused - i earn more during the day then what they were offering me for sleepness nights

where are you based? Maybe i can help?

They asked me too - i found them quite rude and unhelpful.

I always think its worth looking yourself first

There is a night nanny who advertises on my local netmums. I did try contacting her before when my DD was little, just for the odd night sleep. She wouldn't tell me her rates though, kept saying I had to phone her. I didn't bother as I just wanted a rough idea of how much I was looking at and thought if she wouldn't tell me through email or netmums then she was probably going to try and convince me to pay whatever she was asking etc.

What area are you in?

joby29 · 02/12/2008 15:07

I am north hertfordshire. I am really looking for someone who can teach my son the art of self soothing, so when he wakes after 30 mins from a nap, he can pop himself back to sleep without me having to run in for another half an hour and calm him down. I also believe if I can crack the napping, then the sleeping in the night will become better too!

the only ones that i would recommend are also booked - sorry

Good maternity nannies tend to get snapped up very quickly. I had to turn 2 other families down this week as there are only so many hours in a week that i can work!

That's how I know that my friends are also busy as I tried to pass the work their way.

Where is North Herts? I have an absolutely wonderful night nurse who I can recommend to you. She's about £80 or £90 a night and just amazing but is based in NW london and I am not sure a) how far she'll travel or b)if she's free

lindseyfox · 03/12/2008 13:21

I think you should be able to find a good night nanny privately alot of childrens nurses and midwifes night nanny.

I am a qualified childrens nurse and night nanny in east midlands i charge £12 an hr for singles and £16 an hr for twins.

I know night nannies pay their nannies £8 an hr for singles but then you would have agency fee on top.

try netmums and nannyjob.

I worked for Night Nannies when I lived in London. Enjoyed the work, it was great baby experience for me too. I would say give them a ring - I was always available to work at quite short notice, so maybe some other NNs will be too.

navyeyelasH · 04/12/2008 23:35

Joby29 efore you fork out for a night nanny have you tried swaddling your baby? I am a big advocate but admit it's not for everyone!

Good luck in your search!

dannyb - would you mind sending me details of your night nurse? I'm in north London and need a night's respite from my vocal 6-week old...! thanks. [email protected]
