Weekend Staffroom: Is insomnia contagious?

NumberFour · 22/11/2008 04:23

WTF???

Up at 3.45 because I cannot sleep. I was lying in bed thinking about a friend's DH's pending redundancy, the disasterous state of my paperwork, the fact that my ear plugs and a pillow over my head still does not block out DH's snoring and wondering what possessed me to set my alarm for 5.30am so that I can update my policies??????

Off to sort out the paperwork. I cannot do anything else about the rest.

Goodness No4, that doesn't sound good. Will you get the chance to have a rest later as I have a feeling you might need it.

I actually slept well for once as dd didn't wake up until after I had woken up. She still usually wakes up in the night as apparently she 'doesn't like being on her own'!! So for her to go 11 straight hours makes my sleeping so much better too!

We are off to a Christmas fair today Seems rather early to me but I suppose dd's school must have a reason for it Then taking dd swimmming. finally got around to sorting out swimming lessons for her. She loves swimming and can do quite well, but needs someone to actually tell her what to do that isn't me or dh as she doesn't like to listen to us

Hey hum, they housework for me. Really should do some paperwork, but as always, I will find something else that I can do instead

LoveMyGirls · 22/11/2008 08:07

No 4 I can't believe you got up at that time or that you set your alarm for 5.30am to do policies, that's crazy

I'm spending the day on my paperwork today (boring!!)

Hope you get some rest and SB I hope the fair is fun x

mumsanutter · 22/11/2008 08:08

Morning all,

No4 - go and lay down or at least make sure you have a rest today.

SB - have a good day at the christmas fair - ours is next week.

Well ds4 woke the mums house at 5am, and I mangaed to contain him upstairs until about 6. We have been downstairs, and while ds4 was munching a crackerbread, ds3 and scrubed the dining room floor (well I scrubed and he followed with the mop ), I have emptied the dishwasher and it is now cleaning with white vinegar, I have descaled my coffee machine - so fresh, lovely coffees for everyone , and am waiting for ds2 to come home from a sleppover so that I can start the washing.

Have a good day everyone, mums wanders off to see what else she can clean........

mumlove · 22/11/2008 09:11

I sure that there is a virus going around with not sleeping as I have just started sleeping again after about 2 weeks of 3 hours sleep a night!

coolj · 22/11/2008 09:52

Morning all [yawn]. Im tired too as I woke up around 2am, let me dog out for a wee, then couldnt get back to sleep for a couple of hours.

DS1 off to football, so me and DS2/3 are going to town shopping. (When I finally get dressed )

Have a good day.

Oh and if you are still looking for something to clean Mumsanutter, you can visit me. My house will keep you going for a few hours .

LoveMyGirls · 22/11/2008 09:57

WARNING - TMI

Can't believe it, had planned for ages to do my paperwork TODAY and I've got diahorea! Really hope that's the end of it now so I can get on with my paperwork in a bit. (dd's staying with pil so not doing anything until they go at about 1pm)

LoveMyGirls · 22/11/2008 10:02

Can it be a bug if I haven't been sick? Trying to think if it's something I've eaten, I did have chicken yesterday but the dc's ate it too and theyre fine and it was well cooked (cooked in slow cooker) I did have a sip of some off milk (was in the fridge and UHT so I thought it was fine until i took a sip but that was yesterday afternoon) Should I eat? (not that i'm hungry yet)

mumsanutter · 22/11/2008 10:12

I think the doctors now say to carry on as normal ie eating and drinking so that you don't dehydrate yourself!! I hope for your sake that its a one off, and not a bug, as yes you can have the bug without being sick!

Mums has carried on at home, and have rewired a light that we have outside the front door that dh disconnected and never put back, so it now has a plug on it and it works!! . Mums wanders around house looking for more to do - do you get the impression that I am bored!!

Shoshe · 22/11/2008 10:43

No.4. I do sympathise, I suffer from Insomnia really badly (as you can tell by the time I usually open the Staff Room. The Only bonus is that I get my paperwork done in the early hours. I do find it better, to just get up rather than lay there getting worse, by getting up and doing something I can often drop off on the sofa for another hour at 5.

NumberFour · 22/11/2008 11:35

DH left me to sleep til 10.45 when I woke up myself! And I came downstairs to find him cleaning the kitchen. Lovely!!
What a treasure! And he is taking DS out to Burger K to give me time alone to do more paperwork!

I feel lots better!!!

aww - well done Mr.number4 glad you feel better no.4

LoveMyGirls · 22/11/2008 13:50

Aww that's good then No4, I went back to bed too, dp has taken dd's out now so I'm going to do my paperwork.......I really am!!!!! I'm switching MN off and I'm not coming back until its done!

I'm doing.......
my accounts (6mths worth eeeeeeeeeeek)
Register
File daily sheets
Write a page for my website
File household paperwork if I get time

How many hours will this take, will I get it all done?!!

Dp wants to take me out later so that's my incentive but if I dont manage to get it done i'm going to feel very miserable although I feel bit better after this morning's bad tummy I'm not sure if I'm up for going anywhere anyway, the thought was there though!

Right I'm off!

LoveMyGirls · 22/11/2008 14:56

decided I'm having a lunch break, need tea and toast!

Have done my register, filed daily sheets and sorted the reciepts into piles (nearly) still need to go through them all and cross off and deduct stuff I can't claim, then enter into all into the spreadsheet, that will take hours! I'm getting there though, very slowly............

looneytune · 22/11/2008 15:06

Hello all.........started re-organising the bedroom upstairs to have 3 cots in and ended up wedged between a couple of them and had to climb over to get to ds2 as I'd go him laying on changing mat! He got fed up and I've left it in a right state for me to try again later!

Back to paperwork now and hoping ds2 stays in his activity station for a while to let me get on! I'm trying to print my handbook etc. but having printer trouble (it's streaking!) - I could really do without wasting time on this! Had planned to work on SEF at some point but can't see it happening!

Right, back to it.......happy weekend to everyone and hope those who are also doing paperwork manage to get it done (LMG's - accounts for work isn't even on list, I'll have almost a year to do when I do it!! )

Byeeeeeeeeeee

LoveMyGirls · 22/11/2008 17:16

Hope you manage to get it sorted Looney!

My mum came round and she's been a star helping me sort all the reciepts so I can just log them on the spreadsheet so I'm almost there....... half way though one month then another 2 to do and I'm done! I might even have chance to write the page for the website and maybe even a bit of household filing at this rate, dp is due back about 7.30 so I'm going to stop when he comes home!

SammyK · 22/11/2008 18:53

Hi all.

You all sound so busy! I have had my sis round today with her dcs, then been out for a dvd and some groceries.

Think DS has caught this insomnia you speak of.

KatyMac · 22/11/2008 18:56

I went go get DD's ears pierced this morning, went shopping & to the library.........then I came home & collapsed - I have sat on my bum all afternoon, dozing

SammyK · 22/11/2008 19:03

Hi KM, how are you feeling any better?

LoveMyGirls · 22/11/2008 19:04

You deserve breaks, I've had too many (too many weekends spent planning my wedding!) that's why I'm having to work so hard now! It's all done now, I'm going to go through a couple of draws of household paperwork now and sort it into piles to be filed and then I'm going to stop until the morning!! I can write another page for my website any time so I'm not going to worry about that!

KatyMac · 22/11/2008 19:12

Not really - 4th lot of ABs & I am cancelling going to Blackpool to see DD dance in the National FInals next weekend

SammyK · 22/11/2008 19:34

Oh no

did you book a holiday? this week has flown by not been on much.

KatyMac · 22/11/2008 19:35

Yep - week in Egypt (can't wait)

mumsanutter · 23/11/2008 08:27

Morning, mums is sitting here smileing as ds3 is so excited because it is snowing!!

mums wanders into the kitchen, gets a full breakfast on the hot plate, gingerbread cookies, tea, coffee, hot choc availble, and now wanders back off to watch 3 year some more.....

coolj · 23/11/2008 12:49
