The mums house is offically in quarenteen. Mums is knackered (yet another bad night), ds4 has a sore throat, is coughing alot and very clingy, ds3 is still coughing, but perking up (so AB's are working), ds3 is dying (why do they become men when they are ill and he is only 8!!) and ds1 is being a teenager (11 at mo) and full of attitude!

On the plus side I am working again next week, little mindee is covered in the pox but they have all scabed over now and he is more comfortable so will be coming back.

Hope everyone has a great weekend

I cut my own hair las night, took loads off and now have a bob

I plan to stay in my PJs today and try to chill out a bit, my nerves are shredded

southernbelle77 · 15/11/2008 08:40

How on earth did you cut your own hair Sammy?! I would end up with a complete and utter mop if I did that! I'm impressed

Sorry your house is full of illness Mums. Hope you are able to have a quiet weekend.

Dh and I are off for are pamper day / spa weekend in a couple of hours! Can't wait!

See you next week

southernbelle77 · 15/11/2008 08:40

Hi everyone.

If maureenmlove pops in - I think your post on that other thread was spot on. Thanks! Didn't want to add to it, because am hoping it will finally end this weekend.

I wish I was off on a pamper weekend - enjoy it!

KM - Hope your feeling better, and mum, hope your boys are better soon too!

I am planning on doing not alot this weekend, and DH is taking DS1 out to watch rugby later, so will just be me and DS2.

mumlove · 15/11/2008 09:15

Morning everyone.

We currently a have mini baby born scattered around the floor with xmas songs playing (DD has to learn them)!

Will have an expensive afternoon just with DH (wants to buy a kayak for fishing) as DD has to go and practice her xmas play with brownies.

Tomorrow DH going fishing so will just be DD and myself chilling out .

I think we all could do with a duvet and dvd day

Hope you all start to feel better soon and have a great weekend whatever you are doing.

coolj · 15/11/2008 09:15

Morning everyone.

Total at SouthernBelle. Have a great time.

at SammyK. How on earth do you cut the back.

Poor Mumsanutter. I know what its like having 3 sons. TV day I think.

Happy shopping Katymac.

I really feel full of the joys of spring today and want to go somewhere different but my kids just want to chill and play computer all day. .

Going to have to reach a compromise soon.

SammyK · 15/11/2008 09:20

The fact that my hair looks good is a miracle, I don't know how I managed it TBH, never cut it before, had a crazy moment and got the scissors out DP didn't believe I had done it myself and was shocked and impressed.

at spa break SB

have you booked a holiday yet KM?

coolj, surely there is something of the outdoor world you can bribe tempt them with?

it's nice to see we are mostly doing family stuff, think we do all need to chill

KatyMac · 15/11/2008 09:21

no - I can't get very enthusiastic about it - quite despondent

coolj · 15/11/2008 09:34

If I was to go on holiday now it would defo be Disney in Paris. We went there in summer and it was fantastic (we have been b4 a few times and done Florida) but I still love it. We went to Explorers hotel which was absolutely fab (so much for the kids to do, including a kiddy gym). Defo recommend it to everyone.

Even if it was just me and DP without kids, I would still want to go.

(Im just a big kid )

KatyMac · 15/11/2008 09:36

I have health problems so I need winter sunshine

DH (who never buys anything on credit) is prepared to go into debt in order to make sure I don't have another year like this one (I missed my winter sun last year because we were so broke.....we are even more broke this year)

mumsanutter · 15/11/2008 10:11

Katy, we did Trinidad just after christmas 5 years ago now, and it was one of the best holidays we have ever done (other was disney world florida) lovely and warm. Otherwise what about South africa - it would be their summer! Hope your feeling better soon.

Abbafan - I agree that mml's post is superb and hopefully the thread will go away now (why start it in 2 places??)

Coolj - hope that you reach your compromise soon.

I had to pop out to tesco, but at least it means that ds2 is quite happy doing nanny's christmas pressie, ds1 is on his pc, ds3 is watching alvin and the chipmunks - do they make childrens films now with more adult humour in or am I regressing??, and finally ds4 is fast asleep. So I am going to put on a music channel and try and do some sewing (trying to apllique ds4 a christmas stocking!!)

Hello to everyone

OP posts:
KatyMac · 15/11/2008 10:33

Trinidad sounds fab not sure we can afford it - DD wants Jamaica (because her dad is from there) but we can't afford that either

AbbaFan · 15/11/2008 10:58

KM - How about Thailand. My mum's just been and she thinks it was the best holiday she's ever had.

Mums - I love Alvin and the Chipmonks , I have watched it a couple of times with the ds's {big kid alert!)

Me and the kids have just had blue-berry pancakes with maple syrup - so yum. Really must go and get dressed now .

MrsPuddleduck · 15/11/2008 11:35

I could really do with some advice again (sorry)

I have just started a thread on products about mobile phones. Now I use my phone more and have it on all the time I think it is worth going onto a contract (currently pay as you go - the phone itself is virtually clockwork as well and V embarassing).

How many minutes to you think I would need? I don't really use it that much traditionally so am thinking 100 a month will do - does that sound right or do you use your phone loads more once you are childminding?

looneytune · 15/11/2008 11:39

Morning all

mumsanutter - hope your kiddies get well soon. I do feel for you, I find it bad enough that my 2 are ill and ds2 gets me up in the night but I'm not on my own. Agree a duvet day sounds good although if yours are anything like my ds1, there'd be no chance!

Sammy - enjoy your pj day. Sorry about your nerves being shredded, is this because of the awful Ofsted inspector?? As for your hair, the most I've managed is my fringe. I do ds1's hair but not very good, no way would I try my own. Good for you

SBelle - enjoy your spa weekend

Katy - hope you find a nice place for a holiday, sounds like you need it. We're hoping for a holiday next year, fed up of waiting 6 years in between each one.

Abba - enjoy doing not a lot, that's exactly what I feel like doing

MLove - enjoy your day of chilling tomorrow. I'm supposed to have ds1 going out shortly but looked like it's not going to happen

Coolj - hope you manage to persuade them to do something other than stay in - good luck!

Well dh is supposed to be taking ds1 out so I can do yet more paperwork in peace but ds1 has kicked of shouting he wants to stay in. Thing is, he is full of cold/skin really bad BUT it's hard to know if he's being like this because he feels crap or if he's just being a pita like usual - he often needs pushing to go out yet always enjoys it once he's out. I've got ds2 anyway as dh still not ready to take them both out together plus tbh, with ds2 being poorly, I don't think he should be out this weekend anyway.

So atm I have no idea what is going to happen today.....think I need another cuppa whilst they argue about what they're doing!!

Catch you all later.

looneytune · 15/11/2008 11:45

Mrspuddleduck - I'm pay as you go, get 100 free texts with every £10 I put on which works for me as most of my useage is texts. I hardly ever use it for phonecalls relating to childminding but often do text parents and stuff. Sorry, can't help with contracts though.

MrsPuddleduck · 15/11/2008 12:06

Looney - I think I am going to get the cheapest contract I can. I need a new phone anyway as the battery is really unreliable on mine - which is not good.

I hope you get some 'quality time' to do your paperwork!

looneytune · 15/11/2008 12:16

Yes, worth it for a new phone

I think I MIGHT have persuaded ds1 when I mentioned he might be able to have a pizzahut lunch with ice cream factory Only problem is, I now want to go

Right, dh has just got ds2 off to sleep on playgym so I'm going to try and transfer him to his hammock to sleep properly. Then I'm making some poached eggs on toast as SO hungry and want to try making them after seeing SIL do them recently.

Shoshe · 15/11/2008 19:02

We have a house of sickness here, but I couldn't stay on the sofa, Had to go to a Behaviour Course.

Do not intend to get off the sofa tomorrow till DS and DDIL take us out to dinner tomorrow night.

coolj · 16/11/2008 08:41

Talking about mobile phone contracts I only pay £4.99 per month which includes 50 texts and I think about 6 hrs of talktime (off peak).

Trouble is which we live we dont have a very good reception at times. So thinking of changing to a better network.

mumsanutter · 16/11/2008 08:53

Coolj - What network are you on? Do some serious thinking about my phone!!

Shoshe - hope that you have a good sofa day, and all get better.

The mums house are off to the in-laws today, so that they can cook lunch for us (I usually invite them to me, but thats just cos its easier for me to be at home with the 4 terrors darling little boys!! DH is saying that he may be coming home earlier than expected, but I'm not holding my breath!

Everyone else have a good day.

Weird question now - doing some adhoc care to cover for a childminder friend of mine what paperwork do you normally get filled in? I've given the parents my general info, emergency care and consent form. I haven't done a contract as my friend is paying me, as the parents have already paid her for the day. Cheers

OP posts:
SammyK · 16/11/2008 09:23

Mums, I would say child record form, and usual permission slips (including red book one), should take 5 mins max. Hope you get a little rest while at in laws. How old are your DCS?

I am looking at getting a cnotract phone, just so I can put it through expenses! I would keep my pay as you go sim for friends and family as it's ancient and I still get free texts on it every day!!

Shoshe, hope you have a nice chill out day today.

Me and DS jt having some cereal, then off to my mums for the afternoon, sis meeting me there too with her dcs.

looneytune · 16/11/2008 10:00

Shoshe - hope you feel better soon, enjoy the meal!

mums - enjoy and hope the kiddies behave

I looked at SEF yesterday and couldn't believe it. I copied all into Word and emailed my dad to see what he thought and this was his reply....'I've never seen such a load of wasting time form filling rubbish - for god's sake & with no disrespect you're simply a home based child minder not multi-national prep school!!! Tell them to piss off as you've got better things to do - like child minding!' Did make me chuckle

Have a good day everyone.
