Hello. Just wanted to share that my Ofsted Certificate FINALLY came through today (applied in FEB!!)

BUT they have forgotten to put my DH down as a registered assistant which is really annoying. I phoned up and they said they would have to re-apply for it .

And another thing is my numbers. First of all I thought it included my own children which would have meant there was no point in me registering! But I phoned and she said it is on top of my own. My certificate states I can have 3 under 8s, 2 of which can be under 5. I thought I could have more. Is this usual? I knew I could only have 2 under 5s as I have my own under 1 but I thought I could have a few more after schoolers? My house isn't particularly small or anything (but not huge). Is this normal?

Yes

You can have a total of 6 under 8 including your own

I guess you have an under 5, & 2 between 5 & 8 (ie 3 of your own)

So 3 of yours plus 3 CM = 6

You can have over 8's as well

chloemegjess · 12/11/2008 17:04

No, I only have one daughter, who is 10 months,. I know I said kids because I am pregnant but the new baby is not included yet at all

Are you in England?

If so I would ring and ask why? Unless they have changed things post EYFS.......or have they limited it because you are PG and a new C/Mer?

Doesn't seem right - but what do I know - OFSTED

chloemegjess · 12/11/2008 17:13

Yes I am in England.

They didn't even know I was pregnant until I told them today over the phone.

It might be because of being new. Just a bit dissapointed as I was hoping to build up the childminding and only have a couple of weeks off when baby is born next year. But at this rate, I will be better off having a year of maternity allowance! I am guessing I can't really commit to 2 under 5s as I guess that will change when my other baby is born? I did ask about the new baby and they said I have to write to them when it is born and they will revise my numbers! Surely though I need to know before then if they are going to drop?

Am I right in thinking I should have an inspection soon?

When is the baby due? You could take on an under 5 that may move to school/nursery around then

coolj · 12/11/2008 18:17

When I was registered I was only allowed 2 under 5 (cos I had a 2 yo) and one over 5 (I had 2 other LO aged 8 and 10 at the time). After I had my 1st Ofsted Inspection, they allowed me to have another 2 over 5s.

So could be just cos you are new

chloemegjess · 12/11/2008 19:45

Thats coolj, I hope they let me have more after my inspection.

The did say that it might change when my daughter is older, but I am guessing when the new baby arrives it isn't going to help my ratio situation.

Katy, my Baby is due 22nd April. I am fine with working with a newborn, my daughter was 2 weeks old when I started Nannying/Babysitting and I think it will at least be in my own house this time so don't have to get somewhere by 8am and cart all the stuff with me! Bit worried Ofsted won't see it like this though!

My problem is, with maternity allowance, I think you get about £100 per week. At the moment, I look after a little girl 9 hours a week, at £4.25. Now it is going to be very hard to "pay to work" which is what I will be doing if I don't get some more mindees soon!

I was hoping to be registered by July ish time so would be well up and running by now.

i was asked on pre reg how many i wanted to take on and she said ahall i put 5(i have one dd ) as thats max, so i said yes!

alysonpeaches · 12/11/2008 21:44

Does it normally take this long?

chloemegjess · 12/11/2008 22:10

Ofsted say they try to get people registered withing 12 weeks of applying. If that had been true in my case, I would have been registered in May. They said at my pre-reg that I should get my registration by June - July

I have just got my ofsted and its been a long old struggle. i have 2 teens and a hubbie who needed crb checking as well as me and ofsted LOST the first lot of forms and then told me they couldnt find the second lot. i went ballistic and made a formal complaint, they found them the next day in an intray!!!!

Shoshe · 18/11/2008 20:30

thebody, there seems to be a black hole somewhere at Ofsted that all our paperwork falls into.
