CM CLUB:HELP!..mindee just BIT younger mindee!!!

mindee is having serious behaviour probs AT HOME..never here..mum told me this morn he has improved a lot as shes now approaching it diff way, BUT he did HIT 3 children at an activity he goes to on sat _this is out of charichter, he normally just behaves badly gfor mum, shouts, scremas, lashes out, ignores her.

young mindee(under2) singing away, this mindee playing, mindee grabs baby mindees hand and bites down on her finger!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!..he left really deep teeth marks which have now thankfully faded, but has left a bruise!!!..younger mindee was soothed quickly and is fine, but cant beleive he would do this, they play lovely normally and am now concerned over what he will 'try out' next if sat he was hitting other children and now this!

Cant get hold of mum so have text saying what happend and that i fill out incident report, but now have to ring younger mindees mum and feel terible!

what to do now!..it may be a one off or may be the start of something???

you don't say how old biting mindee is, but I am assuming it's just their age/stage of development.

All you can do is really closely supervise until it passes.

I know it's awful, but that's all you can do, a lot of kids do it, and you will just have to record it and reassure the parent's.

Oh also you cannot name biter to bitten child's parents. I know it's no consloation but at least there are not bite marks/broken skin. {{{pc}}}

child who bit is 4! and i only have the two of them here today so mum would know anyway...what should i say x has been bit today on her finger and i cant tell you who did it???..thats not meant in mocking tone, just doubting mum will accept 'someone' bit your LO but i know you have to be careful with things like this?..so should i make sure his name ISNT on incident form???, in that case, would i need two? one for bitten child one for biter?, or type up letter to biter childs mum to read and sign???

should i ring mum of child who was bit and let her know?, text her or wait and speak to her tonight?..mindee is fine, was straight away really, but mum has lot on at min and dont want to panic her?

does mindee who bit have anything going on at home? Transitions like moving house, new baby, or anyone ill or under stress?

As he is 4 then I think he can have it explained to him in more detail why biting is wrong, and be encouraged to apologise / be a kind friend / praised everytime you see him doing something nice.

Yes I would maybe do a note to little one's mum, explaining another minded child did it, that their parent's have also been informed, and you will be closely supercivising the child, and working on positively changing their behaviour.

if she is fine then no I wouldn't bother her.

no, nothing going on at home for mindee!..i was so shocked when he fnally told me what he ahd done he was sent for time out while i consoled younger mindee then told to come back in and explain why?..he couldnt!..he 'just bit her'!..he has said sorry, but i dont really think he understands what he has done wrong?? and has been told why we DO NOT hurt our friends, we NEVER bite ANYONE and why we should be nice to our friends otherwise they wont want to play with us...i can see it ahsnt gone in, he can go into 'dream' mode and this is oneof those times

does he go to preschool PC or just yours?

he's at nursery attatched to school, very good one, i have good relationship with them and they give me inside info on whats going on we spoke only last week about girl mindee plays with who is 'rough' but it seems shes only this way before they go in and is quite calm hilst there?????
