hi, were all pissed off with ofsted right? were all fed up of them giving good and outstanding grades to crappy cms who do nothing with their mindees but just know how to manipulate the system and satisfactory grades to cms who run around doing everything and anything trying to please ofsted and still have fun with their mindees. as we've seen on another thread, more cm than ever before are leaving the profession because of ofsted and also because of the extra paperwork generated by eyfs.
at the moment i dont think there is much we can do about eyfs, other than to let it run its course, and see what happands.

ofsted on the other hand, some thing NEEDS to happen. they are inconsistant and many of them are just plain rude.
there has got to be something we can do to change this. someone we can complain to, that isnt ofsted. it just seems so unfair that they can get away with what ever they want, and leave us heart broken and a dittering wreck by the end of their visit.

i'm sorry about the rant, but i just want to know if there is anything that can actually be done, or do we just have to sit back and take it?

I know exactly what you mean. I think it's Ofsted that need the bloody training. They are soooo inconsistent.

My inspection this year did go very well, however there was a real moment for me.

He gave me 2 outstanding grades and 3 goods, with 1 recommendation (complaints policy needed). So when he was looking through it all he realised one of the o/s grades was under organisation, so he said 'oh, that doesn't look right because the recommendation comes under that catergory', so he just swapped one of the other goods to outstanding

I just had the feeling he walked in and decided in his head what grade i was getting.

Am a playworker not a CM but am pissed off too.

I know there's not much to be done about EFYS, but when OFstead come the only people they care about are the under five's! How the hell is that a fair reflection of our setting, and how the hell are we supposed to do well when you won't answer our bloody questions about how we are supposed to implement EFYS. Everyone is left to make it up themselves and hope they get it right and then get criticised for not getting it right.

[/rant]

I believe Ed Balls (the PM) is v pissed off with ofstead atm, you might be able to get him on your side.

Hehe, this rings a bell. I'll go and find the thread I started over a year ago, it was all about Ofsted. I also set up an anti Oftsed group on Facebook and complained on here as there was an awful Ofsted group that said something they really shouldn't of. Guess what happened to me because of this........they invented a COMPLAINT and it's on my records now!!!

Here's my thread

We are trying very very very hard, and have invited a senior from OFSTED to come to one of our network meetings to discuss with us exactly what the inspectors would like to seee from us. How many replys? NIL. We think they are to scared busy to come and see us!

Arfa · 11/11/2008 15:22

Isn't this what the NCMA should be doing for you? Although I think there is very little chance of that happening because they are too busy trying not to rock the boat because of the £1.9m grant (nearly 12% of their turnover) they got from the DfES (as it was then) for the tax year 2006/7.

leonifay · 12/11/2008 10:17

it just makes me so angry, they seem to be untouchable.
i cant believe they invented a complaint loonytune. did anything good come out of your complaint tho??

The complaint was about some photo's of mindees on Facebook - I ONLY had photo's on there of the ones who wanted them on/didn't mind and I had permission. It's OBVIOUS that someone saw the comment made on my thread (link below) about the group I'd seen on Facebook. Think someone must have got in trouble and they suddenly removed their bad comment saying we're ofsted, we own you and then shortly after, I received the complaint. They'd obviously looked me up and thought they'd got something on me. Stupid idiots, I did the photo's so the parents who are also on facebook could grab them and have them on their own profile FFS!! I did tell them that I was pretty sure it was an internal set up and asked them under the 'information rights act' if they could confirm who the complaint was from. The declined (of course) so I asked if the complaint was internally received and they again declined for xyz reason - basically it confirmed what I knew anyway .
