I am beginning to find it hard to get everything done, with 4ds's and the minded here, I am never away from the children.

I have just been upstairs to the toilet and did not take any children upstairs with me - to find when I get downstairs that ds4 (1 years old) has rung 999!! I have moved the phones, but he keeps climbing!!

It also doesn't help that dh is away, and when he rung last night to say good night, he had been out with the local men from work and had a drink etc, when do I get to go out!!!

Sorry boring, not relevant and probably a crap conversation, but just needed to vent (and cry but am doing that anyway!!)

Anti mumsnetty hug to you. Could you ask a friend/your mum/ babysitter round so you could have a chance to go out? Where abouts are you?

BoysAreLikeDogs · 07/11/2008 13:56

Awwww tulip.

Baby proofing when they keep finding new tricks is hard.

BALD and MM, thanks for the hugs,- my dad and step mum are away on hols, my mum is sadly deceased, the inlaws are over 30 miles away (1hour drive at the best of times), all my friends have children of their own etc etc etc. I will also admit that I am not very good at asking for help, I keep on going and doing my swan impression (all calm on top but my legs are peddleing like f*@k!!).

I am in sunbury near Heathrow.

I have no idea at all how you manage childminding with 4 of your own! You have all my admiration for what it is worth!

Any chance you can get a babysitter in for 4 hours SAturday afternoon so you can go and do whatever you want to for that time??

And I don't mean to be patronizing at all!!! but does your phone have a keypad locking system on it? One of my mindees also called 999 and I had a call from the police telling to stop my kids playing on the phone.

Are you having a glass of wine now or at the very least some chocolate? Band aid treatment til the cavalry (Babysitter)arrives.

I have only one son. My husband is home every night but I still struggle. Cold comfort, I know.

tulip31 · 07/11/2008 18:17

Thank you ladies,

I am working until 8pm tonight, so no wine until they have left - but I am going to go and open it to let it breath!! No chocolate in the house, but will definately buy some tomorrow. I would love some me time tomorrow but ds1 has karate at 2.30, which tends to eat into the day!

Thank you no4 all phones are now locked, I hadn't even thought of that. I had the phones up high, but he still managed to climb and reach them!!

I know you say all your friends have got kids, but couldn't at least a couple of you, arrange for the DH's to babysit, just one night a week. You don't need to go out and get drunk or even to the pub for that matter. What about a gym or evening class? Anything that gets you away for a couple of hours a week. Yo'd be suprised how just 2 hours to look forward a week, makes all the difference.

Aaw tulip31, I didn't realise you had 4 of your own! I take my hat off to you.

Hope you get chance to have some down time over the weekend, when your hubby is home I hope you insist on a half day to yourself! You could just go for a coffee with a book, cm'ing is a job that is hard to balance with home life - I am finding it hard with one ds and DP here (albeit working shifts).

Hi Tulip31,

I'm in Sunbury too...have a virtual hug. Can't offer any advice as I am juyst going into being a CM and my DD is only 17 months old and not particularly mobile.

Hope your weekend gets better x

Hello ladies,

I made the fatal mistake of having 1.5 glasses of red wine last night on an empty stomach and the headache has only just gone!!

MMLove - I would love to do a class and have enquired at a local craft shop, but can't find anyone to come with!! (Have also looked into doing the foundation stage degree in childcare). Also I am paying a fortune out in babysitting as it is - monday = scouts, tues = karate, wed = training or cubs, sat = karate, so my babysitter is getting about £20+ a week (she earns more an hour than I do!!).

Sammy - my sis and her husband are coming over tonight, to watch a dvd with me, lets hope that the children go to sleep and give me 10 mins or so. I fully agree that the balance is difficult between home and minding, and when dh comes home I am going to spend a saturday sitting in walton in costa coffee, watching the world go by as he has the boys!

Missy - thanks for the hug. Would love to meet up at some point email me if you are interested tanya at tanyastots dot co dot uk
